Highlight: Mammoet installed about 30 items during the construction of the Milwaukee Stadium. These included seven
large roof sections with a total weight of about 12,000 tons. The CC 12 600 crawler crane could safely cover the 70 meters
radius with the 300 tons elements on the hook. A specially designed Mammoet adjustable sling allowed for very accurate
and safe positioning and could correct for small offsets of the true versus calculated center of gravity. On-site engineering
proved very valuable to calculate each move in advance, a strict requirement when handling outsized objects that are

TITAN jacking system in Boston
Customer: SIWP Location: Boston, USA. Main equipment: SPMTs, TITAN jacking system
Highlight: For the construction of the second level of concrete viaducts, a huge overhead crane needed relocation to a 8 meters higher position.
SIWP considered the full disassembly of the launching girder and re-assembly at the higher elevation. However, since this process was estimated to
take 3-4 months. SIWP needed a quicker alternative. Mammoet explored the possibility of lifting it in one piece. Since the available space was very
limited, Mammoet applied its TITAN jacking system. Two towers were built on 44 axle lines SPMT. The launching girder, which has the ability to move
by cantilevering itself over large distances, was then “launched” onto Mammoets towers. Finally, the cargo was moved sideways onto the concrete
piers. The complete operation, including the (de)mobilization of equipment, was completed in less than three weeks.
Stability at a high level
Customer: OSS / MAN Takraf Location: Odense, Denmark Main equipment: Gantry system, strand jacks, SPMTs, AK 1200, CC 4200
Highlight: A giant gantry crane collapsed during a storm and Mammoet was called in to install its replacement that was delivered in
parts by pontoon. SPMTs offloaded three beam sections that were assembled to the new 4,500 tons gantry beam. Mammoet installed
two lifting gantries to position the girder at 100 height, applying four 900 tons strand jacks on each gantry that were kept stable with four
100 tons strand jacks. In addition, six tension guys secured the girder from bumping into the lifting gantries. They were restrained with
600 tons anchored strand jacks. The hinged leg of 400 tons, already attached to the girder, complicated the installation.
SPMTs supported the leg and drove it into position as the lift progressed.
Connecting dredging parts at Singapore
Customer: Keppel Shipyard Location: Singapore Main equipment: Skidding system
Highlight: At the Keppel shipyard, a dredger was cut into two parts as to insert a new midsection. Mammoet was
consulted for application of the skidding system in support of the assembly process. It turned out to be a feasible
option. Hence Mammoet skidded the 4,500 tons front section away, leaving room for a floating crane to position
the midsection. Upon completing this, Mammoet skidded the front section back for mating to the midsection.
This could be done with high accuracy, as the skidding system allowed for minute changes in height and tilt.
The right equipment for the right job
Customer: Combinatie Kunstwerken A5 Location: Badhoevedorp, Netherlands Main equipment: SPMTs
Highlight: Mammoet transported and positioned a concrete fly-over of 120 metres long with a weight well over 3,300 tons. This giant
links a newly constructed highway in one of the busiest traffic centres of The Netherlands. In total 134 axle lines of SPMTs transported
the fly-over to the foundation in two hours. Because of the extensive pre-engineering the applied solution called for closing the
surrounding highway just for one weekend instead of almost a year, initially scheduled by our customer.
Infrastructure projects
Tunnels
Outside rugged areas, tunnels can be an effective
solution to cross highways or railroads with water
ways, rivers and canals. Or to cover distances
under cities and reservates. Modern drills are slowly
moving, yet complete manufacturing plants in itself.
At the start and end of their journey, heavy lifting
and transport is required to position the drill-facility
properly or to have them (dis)assembled.
Mammoet covers all necessary experience and
equipment to move drill elements around in shafts,
or to bring them to the tunnel construction site itself
in the first place from the possibly remote yards
where they were being manufactured. Especially in
weak soil, the management of ground pressures
requires extra care.
Construction and assembly
Apart from works on infrastructure, civil projects cover also demolition works, relocation of
buildings, the new construction of buildings, the assembly of stadiums and large construction
works at shipyards and in harbors.
