ISTE Standards

School year; 2018-19

Overall Goal
The overall goal for ISTE standards is to help schools
integrate technology into the education system and into classrooms in a safe and positive way.
ISTE has standards for each level in the education system; administrators, teachers, and
students. All these standards are important for the safety of the kids and being able to use
technology in the classroom for engaging the students.

Standards for Teachers

Within this program, the teachers are required to do certain things in the classroom to fully
involve the students and technology. The teachers do this in a creative way, while also being
safe and making sure to limit the use of technology. To make sure the teachers accomplish this
goal they have 5 standards to follow;

1. Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity

2. Design and develop digital age learning experiences and assessments
3. Model digital age work and learning
4. Promote and model digital citizenship and responsibility
5. Engage in professional growth and leadership

Standards for Students

The standards for students follows closely along with the teachers, in which the students are
supposed to engage and learn from the technology that is integrated. The following standards
are what ISTE seeks for in students following the program;
2
1. Empowered Learner
2. Digital Citizen
3. Knowledge Constructor
4. Innovative Designer
5. Computational Thinker
6. Creative
7. Global Collaborator

Details
ISTE has started this program in hopes for
creating new learning experiences with the
technology that is ever evolving. In today’s
schools, students are expected to learn how
to use technology and by using ISTE
standards, it ensures the safety net provided
to keep the kids on track and always ready to
learn. The standards stretch across for
multiple levels in the education system to keep track and help the education system on track
with new technology. Technology can be a helpful tool for our kid's lives, especially in schools
where it can make learning more interesting and fun for the kids.

Digital Footprint
Within classrooms, students
learn the safety of their digital
footprint and can make sure to
learn the correct way of using the
internet. This is a small part of the
ISTE program but is essential in
making sure the kids are learning
safety first while using technology
and the internet in their daily lives.
