Indian Standard
DIMENSIONS FOR
THREADED CENTRE HOLES

0. FOREWORD
0.1 This Indian Standard was adopted by the Indian Standards Insti-
tution on 24 December 1963, after the draft finalized by the Machine
Tools Sectional Committee had been approved by the Engineering
Division Council. ,,
0.2 Threaded centre ioles with 60” countersink are used on such jobs
where an easy withdrawal of assemblies, such as milling arbors and
drilling machine spindles, is required.

0.3 For the sake of information the recommended diameters of work-

pieces on which the x;arious sizes of centre holes may be provided have
also been given in the tables.

0.4 While preparing this standard assistance has been derived from:
CSK 014917-1956 60’ TIJREADEDCENTREHOLES. Urad Pro Norma-
lisaci.
DIN 332-Blatt 2-1960 60” THREADED CENTRE HOLES. Deutschcr
Normenausschuss.
0.5 This standard is one ofa series of Indian Standards related to centre
holes. Other standards published so far in the series are:
IS : 664-1963 SPECIFICATION
FOR CENTREDRILLS ( Revised )
IS : 2289-1963 SPECIFICATION
FOR 60” DEAD CENTRESFOR LATHES
IS : 2473-1963 DIMENSIONS
FORCENTREHOLES
0.6 For the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of
this standard is complied with, the final value, observed or calculated,
expressing the result 0T a test, shall be rounded off in accordance with
IS : 2-!?60 Ru!rs for Koimding off Numerical Values ( Revised). The
number of significant places retained in the rounded off value should be
the same as that. of the specified value in this standard.

x. SCOPE
1.1 This standard prescribes the dimensions of threaded centre holes
with 60” countersink.

3
Is:2540-1963

2. DlBiENSIONS
2.1 The dimensions of threaded centre holes without and with protected
edges shall be as given in Table I and Table II, respectively.
2.1.1 For dimensions without tolerances in Tables I and II, the
medium grade of tolerance specified in% : 2102-1962 Recommendations
for Machining Deviations for Dimensions Without Specified Tolerances,
shall apply.

3. DESIGNATION
3.1 The threaded type centre holes shall be designated as illustrated in
the examples given in Tables I and II.
