All prin ng on labels must be in permanent ink and in the English language. The color of the print must be black on a white label.  
The law label must be securely a ached to the product. 
 
If the label is not visible to the consumer at  me of purchase, it must also be printed on the packaging in full size using a white back‐
ground and black type. 
 
The label material must be of Tyvek or of a material of comparable quality, which will not flake, abrade or tear. 
 
Only the English language is permi ed on the label. No text or print may appear on the back of label.  

Label must be a minimum of 2 x 3 inches. 
The length starts at the beginning of the word “UNDER” and ends at the country of origin on the bo om of the law label. 
 
The lines separa ng the text must extend to the edge of the law label. 
Minimum type font size of 1/8" inch is required in all sec ons of the law label, Including all upper and lower case le ers, except the 
cer fica on sec on that begins with “Cer fica on is made….” and the “other informaƟon secƟon.” There is no font size require‐
ment in these sec ons except for the Country of Origin that needs to be in 1/8 inch font, in caps and bold type. 
 
Please note not all 9 point fonts fit the 1/8 inch  minimum text criteria.

This specific “flame retardant chemical statement” must follow the TB117‐2013 flammability label verbiage. The mini‐
mum label size requirement for the flammability label with the SB1019 chemical statement is 2 x 3 inches. The  
minimum size of type shall be 1/8 inch in height and type shall be in capital le ers for the TB117‐2013 sec on. The 
SB1019 statement does not need to be in all capitol le ers. The 1/8 inch height will be measured from the lowest meas‐
uring lower case le er. Please note that not all 9 point fonts fit this criteria. 
The SB1019 statement must be located to the right or at the bo om of the compliant flammability sec on of the label;  
either way, it may be separated by a black line. The statement cannot be located to the le  or top of the compliant

 Combining a State Law Label and The TB117‐2013 SB1019 Label

IABFLO has agreed that the state law label and the TB117‐2013 SB1019 flammability label may be printed on the same 
piece of material, provided that they are separated by a bold, black line. All forma ng requirements s ll apply. 
The two labels may be arranged either side‐by‐side or one above the other. If the labels are printed side‐by‐side, then 
the state law label must go on the le  and the TB117‐2013 SB1019 label on the right, separated by a ver cal, bold, 
black line. If the labels are printed one above the other, then the state law label must go on top and the TB117‐2013 
SB1019 label on the bo om, separated by a horizontal, bold, black line. The choice is a company’s to make.
