STAY, LIVE AND TRAIN IN STAR CITY! WHERE COSMONAUTS HAVE TRAINED FOR 50 YEARS!

Deep in a Russian forest lies a secretive training facility intended to prepare people for a voyage into space. The centre was established in the 1960s and was originally called the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre. Since then it has trained at least 400 astronauts - or cosmonauts as they are called in Russia - from more than 30 different countries.

Star City is up and running and still the main space training centre for all international cosmonauts and astronauts visiting the space station as well as the centre for the Russian space programme. The centre, run by the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos), is in a closed town where the legendary cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin trained. It has a heavily guarded border and access is for residents and space trainees. Today - despite the area no longer being a military zone in 2008 - it remains difficult for outsiders to gain access

Your friends and family will be pleased to receive unforgettable "space" gifts from Star City! You acquire from us not just a souvenir, but a frozen memory, a part of the most cosmic town of Russia.

"Soyuz", "Mir" station, the ISS RS) No doubt that a lot of us have heard about

No doubt that a lot of us have heard about the International Space Station, that it flies around the Earth and astronauts live there during their long-term missions to space.

To get to know from the first source how they really live and work onboard the ISS, to learn the interior of the Station this will be the most interesting and outstanding experience which can be gained at the Cosmonaut’s training center.

Before flying to space cosmonauts have to spend hours and hours to practice all the skills acquired during the theoretical classes. Exactly for this purpose all the simulators of the Space center are made as full size replicas and practically don’t have any differences from the original ISS. This means that you will see the real copy of the ISS Russian Segment and will be able to explore not only its exterior but also the interior! There are all the necessary things which astronauts need in space to live and work present: the flight control point, a lot of different systems providing the station’s functioning, a space table for meals, crew quarters and even a space toilet.

Scientific Laboratory is intended to fulfill the following tasks:

familiarization with the content of scientific tasks and experiments performed by crew members in space

presenting separate experiments and works reflecting physics (chemistry) laws and physiology of a crew member in space

receiving knowledge and skills during implementation of scientific experiments

simulating scientific researches and experiments using virtual reality means

use of medical-biological trainers for simulating separate factors of space flight

use of medical equipment for studying methods of scientific researches (registering equipment of physiological functions, anatomic measurements, laboratory researches, optical microscope, etc.)

A simulator can provide simulation of the work of all onboard systems and motion of the spacecraft, as well as the visual observation of everything what can be seen by astronauts through the windows or visual sight (the periscope) inside the decent module of the spacecraft. If you order a complex simulation in the Soyuz spacecraft our leading specialists and GCTC instructors will make a full training for you on the following space flight activities:

Simulation of the flight in the real and accelerated time scale (1:1/2:1/4:1/10:1);

Simulation of the off-nominal situations on all space craft systems in both manual and automatic modes;

Monitoring of the crew work using TV and voice communication systems;

Video recording of the training process;

Simulation of the full space flight in real time scale.

Soyuz spacecraft complex simulators are designed for training of the space crews to piloting of the spacecraft on all the flight stages:

Prelaunch preparation of the spacecraft;

Insertion to the orbit;

Orbital maneuvering;

Approaching and docking, joint flight with the ISS;

Undocking from the ISS;

Reentry from the orbit;

GLOVE BOX

The International Space Station has a permanent glove box. A glovebox is a valuable research tool. Any work with flames requires precautions, especially on a spacecraft. A closed environment may be essential to control experiment variables. A glove box helps scientists find more effective methods for performing an experiment, like growing better crystals. The sealed glovebox keeps flames, particles, fumes, and spilt liquids away from crew members and out of the cabin air. Scientists can use the glovebox to make sure small parts of a large experiment work. This helps build more reliable equipment.

Space Food

Just imagine how difficult it is for astronauts to do simple life things which really seem so easy for us! They live in the conditions of permanent weightlessness! Cooking and eating in conditions of zero gravity could be a real problem for a person not trained for this. Red Square is the heart of Moscow and the main square of Russia. One cannot visit Moscow without seeing Red Square. The word ‘red’ in the Square’s name means ‘beautiful’. Its monuments embody Moscow’s centuries-old history in all of its manifestations. Few squares in the world combine churches, defensive walls and towers, museums, a cemetery with a mausoleum, and a huge department store in a single space. Buildings of different styles and centuriesfrom the 15th to the 20thcoexist in a single composition, forming a unified architectural ensemble, so beautiful in its diversity. Red Square has long been known as a trading place: trade was carried on in stone shops, commonly referred to as the “trading rows”, ever since the times of Ivan the Terrible.

It is noteworthy that the cathedral is made up of nine separate churches set on one base and arranged into a single composition, the nine individual churches share the same foundation and connected by two galleries.this is how Russian architect Barma Postnik, the project author, solved the challenging problem of designing a cathedral with nine side altars. The Gothic-turreted Spasskaya Tower, considered by many to be the most beautiful tower of the Kremlin, was built under the supervision of Pietro Antonio Solari in 1491, and stands on the north- eastern side of the citadel, bordering Red Square. The Russians have always regarded the Spasskaya Tower with great reverence. According to old legends, the tower was possessed with miraculous powers and was reputed to protect the Kremlin from enemy invasion. People passing through the gates would always observe the custom of crossing themselves and doffing their hats to show their respect, and horses passing under the gates of the tower were said to shy. In fact, legend has it that Napoleon himself could not prevent his horse from taking fright as he rode through the gates, having failed to show his respect, and the French Emperor's hat was said to have fallen from his head.

The Museum of the Patriotic War of 1812 is located in the centre of Moscow in Revolution Square. The building itself is an outstanding example of the “Neo-Russian” stylearose in second quarter of the 19th century and was an eclectic melding of pre-Peterine Russian architecture and elements of Byzantine architecture. The effect is a harmonious architectural ensemble, which works well together with other landmarks around Red Square including the State Historical Museum.
