Public Schools PK-12 Student Art Show!
The show runs from Monday, April 22nd
through Wednesday, May 1st at
Hudsonville City Hall. City Hall will be
open daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Park’s artist receptions is Monday April 24
from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
If your child has artwork selected for the
show they will be bringing home a letter
sharing which piece will be in the show
soon.

A Note from Mrs. Heerema:
Dear Parents,
It is the time of year when we take state assessments. The M-STEP is given to all
students who participate in their grade level content and standards.  The M-STEP
is intended to measure student growth toward proficiency. State assessments are
required under both state and federal law to ensure all children are learning and
receiving a high-quality education. Our Park 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students will
all participate in the M-STEP in the coming weeks and months. Please see the
schedule below for specific dates connected to your child's grade level. 
Testing Schedule
Grade 5:
April 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24
Grade 3:
April 30, May 1, 7, 8 
Grade 4:
May 14, 15, 21, 22
As a parent, you can be helpful in supporting your child's success on the state
test. Here are a few important tips: 
Optimize brain power
Students who feel the most successful on testing days are the ones who
have enough sleep and  good breakfast the day of the test.
Relax and remain positive
The best test-takers are confident, committed, and at ease. Even if you are
nervous about your child's performance, try hard not to transfer that concern to
your child. You never know, some kids actually enjoy tests! If your child is likely
to get nervous, practice a few relaxation techniques, such as counting from one to
ten or taking deep breaths, which can help relieve tension during the test.
Plan Ahead
Make sure that your child is on time to school each morning and that you do not
schedule any appointments during his/her testing days.

Music Notes:
Park students are growing so much as musicians. Please see the attached newsletter to know more about what
each grade level has been learning. The 4th grade students will be traveling to Muskegon for the link up field
trip on Tuesday, April 24. This concert is a great opportunity for students to listen to and perform with a
professional orchestra. They will be singing, moving and playing recorders along with the orchestra. A
newsletter was sent home Wednesday with all of the details. Thank you for your support of Park Music!

 Taking a closer look at our cognitively impaired students here at Park!


Park Elementary has the great opportunity to be the home to our district's Cognitive Impairment program. This
program currently includes three classrooms: Mrs. Grabill teaches K/1st, Mrs. Pell and Mrs. Hekman teach 2nd/
3rd, and Mrs. Childress teaches 4th/5th. Our program offers a unique and modified curriculum that supports
developmental and daily living skill needs and differences. All of our students are part of another classroom in
the building and spend varied amounts of time in general education based on what is best for the individual
student.

AYSO Soccer Registration Event Fall 2019/Spring 2020 Season

Curb Parking:
Thank you for your help not parking along the curb by the front entrance. Parking there creates a bottleneck
effect where cars cannot pass. Please use Park St. for additional parking. Thanks again for your compliance.
