ACKNOWLEDGEMENT We take this momentous opportunity to express our heartiest gratitude and regards to venerable and highly esteemed project guide Prof. Ranjeet Kekan under the guidance of whom we successfully accomplished a project report on Increasing COP Of Household Refrigerator Using Liquid Suction Heat Exchanger . We are also indebted to our friends and colleagues who supported us and helped us to find the necessary information and those who also encouraged us at required times. We are thankful to our parents who supported us financially and morally to succeed in completing report. We also place on record, our sense of gratitude towards all who directly or indirectly aided us in the venture. We cordially converge our heartiest thanks to the Principal DR. D.G. Borse & H.O.D of Mechanical Department Prof. Binu Varghese to provide us a necessary platform for completing our project report successfully.
ABSTRACT The significant objective of this prospect is to increase the coefficient of performance of household refrigerator using liquid suction heat exchanger (LSHX). The liquid suction heat exchanger is basically the counter flow heat exchanger installed in the suction line of compressor. In order to accomplish this objective the experimental analysis of theoretical COP is needed. The liquid suction heat exchanger was designed and fabricated for fulfillment of this venture. The test rig of refrigeration system was designed and fabricated considering the strength criteria and avoiding all the possible bottlenecks while carrying out experiment. Copper is selected as the material for liquid suction heat exchanger due to its high thermal conductivity. The aim is to increase the COP by reducing the number of cycles of refrigeration which reduces the total work consumed thus increasing the COP.
