To whome it may concern,

My name is Jeffri Situmorang and i would like to express my interest to become a part of Erasmus
Mundus MAPP this coming term. Currently I am volunteering as a part of President Jokowi’s national
volunteer campaign group in Riau Province. I am the head of the millenials department where we as
a team map the population’s perception of President Jokowi, devide areas into different zones to
work in, make plans and evaluations involving millenials in said zones, and also help different branch
of interest apart from millenials such as; advocating farmers with agrarian problems and dealing
with health issues in designated areas of the province. I also work closely with legislative and
bereucrat officials in enabling better coordination with ruling parties, related officials and people on
the grass root in this campaign.

I realize that currently i am an intermediary working to bring government policies and achievements
to be known and understood by the people in general, so that the people would know what
government has done and continue to do for them so they will able to evaluate and control the
actions of government as part of civil society. But that does not change the fact that despite the
central goverment effort to change the country for the better, the regionals are not able to act
acorrdingly because of ineffective governance and corruption which in turn rendering a number of
policies in regional areas not properly executed.

Through the ISS-York course, I aim to learn the structure and framework that make good governance
and effective management of public sector possible. Especially in the area of aggrarian reforms,
development and sustainability, and conflict management. I would like to make E-goverment and
how it influence governance and policy making in European Union as the focus of my research. This
course will also help me to gain deeper understanding on governance in a broader sense through
interdiciplinary aproach and hands on policy analysis experiences.

As someone who aims to work as a policy analyst and future government official, I believe Mundus
MAPP will help me improve my analitical and critical thinking skills. The diversity of cultures, beliefs,
ideologies, and intelectuals that come with the environtment in The Hague and York will also serve
as valuable experiences that will help in the future as I work in a country as divers as Indonesia.

I will continue to advocate good governance and promote E-government after my graduation if I get
accepted into the programme. I plan to work with actors both at the policy and grassroot level to
create a more inclusive and integral governance in Indonesia. I will implement research based
advocacy as an integral part of work in the future.
