The Goshorns Step by Step

March 2019
We’ve been slowly getting back into the swing
of things since we’ve returned, so the newsletter is a
little late. Jennifer is now up to 35 of 96 women for The
her Bible study in the prison. This is just amazing. She’s
run into a little snag at the prison though, she can no
longer go on Monday mornings because of conflicts
with a required program from the government. But,
God is good and she can have lessons on Thursday
evenings.
As a lot of you know I’ve beat my head

prayerfully consider financially supporting this ministry in
Peru. Without more financial partners this ministry can not
continue to grow. We love you all and thank you for being
part of God’s work in Peru.
Heart Broken

I look at the kids in our programs and wonder what kind of life they have ahead of them. We share
Christ and His love with them and this is what it’s about. But for many, the future of their earthly physical
life isn’t very bright. We had one of our original young girls who is now 15 years old and hasn’t come for
around 2 years show up at the program. We were very happy to see her and invited her in. She smiled so
big and had lunch with us. We chatted and we found out her dad hasn’t been able to find work. He’s
traveled to the jungle and further back in the mountains and he still can’t find work. Two years ago when
we delivered food for Christmas he threw his hands in the air and yelled “This is a gift from God. “ Now he
can’t feed the family at all. Natalie came back because she was hungry. How hard is it to learn or even hear
God when your hungry? I mean really hungry. She says that she wants to attended college and become a
lawyer. Her grades are so so, but I believe she can do it. She thinks if she’s a lawyer she can help others.
We talked more about scripture and she said she would like to attend a Bible study in our house for young
girls, which we will start preparing for.
Our hearts were breaking, we thought, then Jennifer asked her about her cousin Rut who also used
to attend the program and is now 13 years old. Her mother left years ago because she didn’t want kids
anymore. Rut, her 2 brothers and her dad live in a 1 room adobe shack. She said Rut just had a baby. The
father of the baby apparently is older and fled to the jungle and probably won’t return. They have tried to
find him. This is probably a wise choice on his part. She was so small they had to perform a C-section. This
was also very hard on her. To top it off, the baby is 2 weeks old and has some type of tumor in it’s
stomach. The hospitals in Huancayo told her she needs to take the baby to Lima. The problem is the family
has no money to do this. We know we can’t physically help everyone, but we sure can pray for them. Our
hearts are truly breaking for these girls. Please keep them in your prayers.
