This study was conducted to describe the status of scabies in select

barangays in Lemery, Batanagas.

Statement of the Problem

1. What is the profile of the respondent in terms of:

1.1) Age

1.2) Gender

2. How do Victims and BHW assess the scabies disease in their

environment?

3. Is there a significance difference on the assessment by the two

groups of respondents?

4. What are the practices used in addressing scabies in their

barangay?

5. What action plan in preventing scabies in their barangays could be

proposed?

Hypothesis

There is no significant difference between the assessments of the

barangay health workers and victims of scabies.

The descriptive design was used in presenting the status of scabies

in select barangays in Lemery, Batangas. Similarly, it was used in obtaining,

analysing and interpreting the results of the study. In addition, the

researchers surveyed and interviewed a total of 60 respondents, wherein 30

of them barangay health workers and the other 30 were from victims of

scabies.

The statistical methods used in this study were frequency,

percentage, weighted mean and t-test. The t-test was for us to determine

the significant relationship of the two variables. Other pertinent materials

such as books and internet were referred to as secondary sources.

Findings of the Study

The following below are the findings of the study.

1.1 Profile of the Respondents In Terms of Age Regarding the

Status of Scabies in Select Barangays of Lemery

The pie chart shows that most of the victims of the scabies in terms of

age are children with the age of 2 to 5 years old and adults with the age of

16 to 60 years old. And the health workers who help mend scabies are in

the range of 34 to 39 years old.

1.2 Profile of Respondents in Terms of Gender Regarding the

Status of Scabies in Select Barangays of Lemery, Batangas

The data gathered shows that most of the victims of scabies

who became the researcher’s respondents are male and the health workers

who are mostly females.

2. Assessment of Victims of Scabies Regarding the Status of

Scabies in Select Barangays in Lemery, Batangas

The data gathered from the respondents shows that most of the victims

of scabies agree on the assessments on questionnaires that were provided

by the researchers.

3. The Assessment of Barangay Health Workers Regarding the

Status of Scabies in Select Barangays in Lemery, Batangas

Most of the barangays health workers agree on the statement regarding

the scabies in Lemery wherein it evident that they are aware on the status

of scabies.

4. Significant Difference Between Barangay Health Workers and

Victims of Scabies

There is no significant difference between the assessments of

barangay health workers and victims of scabies.

5. Practices Used in Addressing Scabies in the Select Barangays

in Lemery, Batangas

Most of the respondents stated the practices that can be done when

one person has scabies. They stated its causes, treatments and

preventions.

6. Proposed Action Plan for the Status of Scabies

The researchers proposed an action plan in the Municipal Health

center in order to improve the knowledge of the victims of scabies and health

workers regarding scabies that already been one of the problems in Lemery,

Batangas.

Conclusions

Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions were

made:

1.1 The researchers concluded that most of the victims of scabies in

select barangays of Lemery, Batangas are children and adults. And the

health workers are in the appropriate age to help cure scabies in the town.

1.2 The victims of scabies in select barangays in Lemery, Batangas

are mostly male and the health workers are mostly female.

2. Basedon the experiences of the respondents, the victims of scabies

are aware on assessing the scabies.

3. The researchers think that the barangay health workers has a

sufficient knowledge about the status of scabies in select barangays in

Lemery, Batangas.

4. There is no significant difference between the assessments of the

barangay health workers and victims of scabies.

5. Based on the given statements of the respondents, most of them

have knowledge in the practices used in addressing scabies wherein its

causes, treatments and preventions are involved.

6. The action plan that was proposed by the researchers may be a

substantial help, not only for the respondents but also to all the citizens of

Lemery, Batangas.

Recommendations

With the reference to the above findings and conclusions, the

researchers propose the following:

1.1 The adults and parents of the children who are infected by scabies

should be informed by the health workers so that they will know how to mend

scabies.

1.2 The researchers recommends to host a well orientation to the

male victims of the scabies so that they will understand the proper ways on

determining and treating scabies in select barangay in Lemery, Batangas.

2. The victims of scabies should be oriented properly whenever they

are going on a check up to treat scabies, so they will gain more knowledge

on how to cure scabies properly.

3. Based on the conclusions of the researchers, the barangay health

workers should maintain the knowledge that they have to assess the scabies

properly and to influence other individuals regarding scabies.

4. The victims of scabies and barangay health workers should

collaborate in orienting other people about scabies.

5. The proposed action plan of the researchers may be used.

6. To further validate the study, parallel studies maybe conducted.
