A LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 7

Date: 06/11/2018

I. Objectives:
In this lesson, the students are expected to:
1. Describe and define the complement of the set.
2. Find the complement of the given set.
3. Use Venn diagrams to represent the complement of the set.

II. Subject Matter:

Topic: Complement of a set
Reference: Mathematics 7 Module
Materials: Visual Aids; Manila Paper, pantile pen and chalk

III. Procedures/Strategies:

A. Daily Routine A. Daily Routine

1. Prayer 1. Prayer
Good morning class, before we start The students will stand up and pray
May we all stand up and pray.

2. Cleaning 2. Cleaning

Ok class, before you sit down; please pick up The students will pick up the pieces of paper

3. Greeting
3. Greeting
Good morning Ma’am!
Good morning once again class. (different responses)
How are you today?
Well, good then
4. Checking of Attendance
4. Checking of Attendance

Very good.

B. Priming
B. Priming
1. Recall
1. Recall
Students will raise their hands to answer.
Before we begin to our lesson, let us have a
recap on what you have learned about our
previous topic. 2. Motivation

2. Motivation The students will raise their hands.

Okay class, who wants to have stars?

There are different objects posted at the

blackboard objects in set A and objects in set
B. I want you to identify the objects that are in
set A and set B.

And also, the objects in set A that can also be

found in set B. Student A will try to solve the puzzle.

Okay, Student A give it a try.

The students will clap their hands.

Very good! Let’s give him/her a round of

applause. C. Activity

C. Activity Students will raise their hands.

So from our activity, who could guess our topic

for today? I think our lesson for today is about Union and
intersection of sets.
Let’s call student B.

That’s correct, thank you student B.

So, our topic for today is about Union and

intersection of sets.

I want you to group yourselves into three

groups The students have grouped themselves into
three groups.
Now that you have grouped yourselves. I will
give each group activity sheets. All members Yes, ma’am.
should participate and don’t make loud noises.

So, the instructions are written on the activity

sheets. The students will do their activity.

D. Analysis
D. Analysis
1. There are set of numbers C and D. Set A
consist of (0,1,4,5,6,8,20); while set B
consist of (0,1,2,3,4,6,7,9,20)

2. Find the union and the intersection of the

given sets.

So, May I call on each group’s

representative to present their work. Group’s representative will come in front to
present their work.
E. Abstraction

You all did great in our activity, now let’s go to E. Abstraction

discussion.

The Union of sets denoted by U is the set that

contains those elements that are either in Set
A or in Set B or in both.

The intersection of sets denoted by Ո is the

set containing those elements in both A and B.

Generalization

Are there any questions?

So, let us have a recap.
Generalization
The teacher will recap her/his discussion.

F. Application

Okay, class since there are no more questions

and you all understood the lesson. Please
answer the following questions.
F. Application
Find the union or the intersection of the given
sets:

A = {0, 1, 2, 3, 4}
B = {0, 2, 4, 6, 8}
C = {1, 3, 5, 7, 9}
The class will answer.

I. Assignment:
Given the sets, determine the elements and cardinality of:

X = {0, 1, 2, 3, 4} Y = {0, 2, 3, 5, 6} Z = {0, 1, 2, 3, 5, 7}

1. X Ս Y =

2. X Ո Y =

3. Y Ս Z =

4. Y Ո Z =

5. X Ս Y Ս Z =

6. X Ո Y Ո Z =
