Procedures / Lesson Activities:

1. Tune instruments with Tuning Drill: Turn on metronome, play strings from top to bottom in half
notes, teacher follows, tunes instrument.
2. Scale Warmup: Page 38-39 in lesson book, D Major Scale, G Major Scale, A minor Scale, D
minor Scale
3. Call and Response patterns on G string
4. Teacher plays recorded and sustained G concert from Dronetonetool.com with string sounds.
5. Students first plug ear, close mouth, hum do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do G major scale, then sing on
syllables.

6. Students sing with hand signals.
7. Students play in unison using hand signals, hearing the drone against their scale tones, do-
re-mi-fa.
8. Students play in two parts using hand signals (teacher splits the group in half and guides
each group with Kodaly hand signals)
9. Students play O Waly, Waly against drone tonic sound.
10. Teacher records run through.
11. Students listen to run through and evaluate their performance
