BIOMAC®

Biomac® blankets are made with a mixture of fully


biodegradable fibers properly integrated during
manufacturing. The fibers are laied on a cellulose laier
and reinforced with a fine polypropylene netting
securely stitched on both sides during manufacturing.
Depending on the type of fibers used, Biomac blankets
are divided into:

- BIOMAC®-SS:

consisting of straw fibers (fig. 1);
- BIOMAC®-SC: consisting of a mixture of coir and
straw fibers (fig. 2);
- BIOMAC®-CC: consisting of coir fibers (fig. 3).

The Biomac® package nominal weight is equal to 450

Biomac® fibers can also be supplied pre-seeded with
selected seed properly mixed (about 40 gr/sq.m. of
each seed selection) depending on the location.
The polypropylene netting shall be clear and

photosensitive whereas the cellulose layer shall be
white consisting of recycled or new cellulose.

Non-seeded blankets description


Non-seeded blankets (2x25 m) consist of 450 gr/sq.m.
of straw, coir or coir fibers laid on a cellulose layer. This

Pre-Seeded blankets description
Pre-see ded blankets (2x25 m) consist of 450 gr/sq.m. 25.00 2.00

Installation of BIOMAC®
Biomac® blanket shall be unrolled and pinned down using steel eventually zinc coated stitches or wooden stakes

placed at different rates depending on the soil slope or the surface length to protect (Figg.5-6-7).
Adjacent soil blankets will be overlapped at least 10 cm.
Non-seeded blankets shall be seeded after installation with adequate seed mixtures and properly fertilized.
For better results pre-seeded blankets shall be re-seeded after 3 or 4 weeks after installation. © 2013 Maccaferri. All rights reserved. Maccaferri will enforce Copyright.
Irrigation of Biomac® blankets in drought conditions shall be always provided in order to enhance the blankets

greening ability.

Packaging and storage


Each roll shall be properly protected with a clear and impermeable polypropylene wrapping which shall not undergo
deterioration or damage during handling, transportation and storage. Biomac ® units shall be kept dry and stored in
a roofed holding area or covered with an impermeable cloth. Nevertheless all defective/non-defective Biomac® units
shall be kept in dry conditions in specific holding areas provided with a fire prevention system conforming to the
national standard requirements.

For the optimisation and improvement process of the technical characteristics of the products, the producer reserves the factibility to modify standard
