Agrileca (Lightweight Expanded Clay Aggregate) is made by kiln firing small balls of clay which
causes them to become extremely porous and durable enough to re-use indefinitely. Agrileca is
a clean and attractive soil free media with many applications in hydroponics and containers.

Agrileca is completely inert, pH neutral and reusable.

Natural & Healthy growth :

AgriLeca does not contain organic substances, does not
decompose, and is rot-free and parasite-free. Nearly 98%
of the Oxygen that plants require to grow is taken up by
their roots. When roots are starved of Oxygen, by over
watering or overly compacted soil, plant health suffers
and growth becomes stunted. Tip necrosis (browning of
leaf tips) is usually the first symptom of this condition.
Agrileca when used alone or blended with other growing
media or potting mixes, can prevent this problem by
keeping thousands of pathways open for the exchange of
gases and drainage of water. The result is a healthy
rooting environment that will serve to maintain plant
health and promote new growth.

Prevents Root Rot

Another result of increased Oxygen levels and improved drainage is that aerobic (air breathing)
bacteria populations remain strong which keep the disease causing anaerobic (non air breathing)
bacteria at bay.

Reduces watering requirements

By top dressing your pots and planters with a one to two inch layer of Agrileca evaporative losses
are reduced which effectively conserves water and increases the time between waterings.

Blocks algae and fungus gnats

A top dressing of Agrileca also serves to block direct light from reaching the growing media which
prevents problematic algae from growing on its surface. This 'dry' top dressing also deters fungus
gnats from colonizing your containers with their root destroying larvae.

Provides physical stability

When growing outdoors with a lightweight media such as coco pit etc., , blending some Agrileca
into the mix will give planters the extra weight they need to resist getting knocked over by wind,
rain or small animals.

Easy to use :
AgriLeca can be kept for an unlimited time, without ever changing.
Supplied in bags it is easy to use, store, carry and dose.

Packing :
AgriLeca is produced in sizes, 4-10 mm
it is supplied in 10, 50 and 100 liter hdpe bags
Dry weight approx. 300 Kg/m3, (10 ltr = @3 kg )
Coverage: One bag 50ltr will cover approximately 1 Sqm at 50mm depth.
Specific pH
Its pH is between 6 and 7.

Fields of Use:
Mixed in the soil or as a draining layer or humidity preservation
layer for roof garden , hanging gardens, flower pots and plants in vases.
Filling up of surfaces for the cultivation of vase plants.
Arrangement of flower pots, Hydroculture / Hydrophonics.

Other Applications:
As a component in lightweight concrete. and as a backfill to structures

Hydroponics
AgriLeca is used to support plants grown in systems that use mesh baskets, with flood and
drain tables and in constant drip irrigated systems like the Dutch Pot or General Hydroponics
Eve's Garden. Anywhere a fast draining media is required, AgriLeca will work perfectly and
using is as a top dressing when growing with our Smartgardens Autopot systems
