Lesson Idea Name: Review of Inertia

Content Area: Physic
Grade Level(s): 8th grade
Content Standard Addressed: S8P3. Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information about cause
and effect relationships between force, mass, and the motion of objects.

Technology Standard Addressed:

Empowered Learner
Students use technology to take an active role of choosing, achieving and demonstrating their understanding
in their learning goals.
1c – students use technology to seek feedback that informs and improves their practice and to demonstrate
their learning in a variety of ways.

Selected Technology Tool:

☐ Socrative ☐ iRespond ☐ Quizlet ☐ Plickers ☒ Kahoot! ☐ Office365 Forms
☐ Other:
URL(s) to support the lesson (if applicable):
www.kahoot.com/b/
Technology that student will use to respond to questions/prompts:
☒ Computer ☒ Hand-held student response system (like iRespond) ☒ Phone ☒ Tablet (such as iPad)
☒ Other wireless device (such as iPod Touch)
Type of session:
☐ Teacher-Paced ☒ Student-Paced
Bloom’s Taxonomy Level(s):

Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

Engagement: Students will work as class to answers questions to the game. Students will able to choose
their group or team. This allow students feel comfortable participating with their friends and able to have
fun while learning at the same time. Students will special needs such as ELLs, will also able to participate
with the help from their classmate.
Representation: This game can be use in any form of tech. Students who have smart phone or computer,
they can join the game.
Action and Expression: As whole class, we will complete the game at the pace of the students. On top of
that, I am able to add a timer, which help as giving extra time for slow readers.

Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
Prior to the activity, we will do a quick review before the game, also have students understand the task and
recall information about inertia.

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☒ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☒ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☐ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☒ Test preparation

☐ Survey/Poll ☒ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

During the activity, the students will either form pair team or groups of 4. After set-up, I will explain
to students how the game goes. There will be a practice question will not be related to the material. As
the students read the questions, I will listen if any confusion from the questions between teams and
groups. I will be addressed after the question is answered. Students are expected to read the questions
carefully, discuss with their partners (if they are in pairs) and answer the question to the best they can.
The only material that is needed is an electronic device that will support Kahoot and connection to the
internet. The activity will only last about 15 to 20 minutes, depending on the amount of review
needed for each question. There will be 20 questions that will be asked.
Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):
☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☒ True/False ☒ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?
Is important for students to understand the material, the goal for using this application is to have students to
have recall with the chapter they just learned and about to be test soon. The goal is to have students to
remember the correct information rather than scoring the highest points.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
I will show them which question the class missed the most and go through that information again or have
them find out why they though the incorrect answer was correct.
How will the data be used?
The data collected will reflect the knowledge of the students. The purpose behind this activity is to see how
much of the information was retained / recall by the students and can use the information. This main goal for
this activity is to be used as a review session of the material taught. The game will give a virtual grade for
students to see how their knowledge reflects their performance. It will show if the student got the question
right or wrong as well as how many of the questions students got right out of the total. If a student gets all
the questions right, then they will be at the top of the leader board. I will grade students as informal
formative assessment to letting me know how the students are handling the material. I will use this data to go
over the misconceptions of the students.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.

I am going to use this activity to assess how much of the material do the students know and understand. My
goal is to let the students know what kind of questions are expected to be on future tests and assignments. I
hope that this activity will help the students to be able to recall all these information during summative
assessments.

Reflective Practice:
This activity can help students and let them know how much of the material they know and remember. This
allow students to know if they need to spend extra time to review the material or just clear a common
misconception. I look forward that this review activity can prepare students for future tests relate to the
material.
