STEP Standard 6 - Analysis of Student Learning

Post-Test Data: Whole Class -Once you have assessed your students’ learning on the topic, collect and
analyze the post-test data to determine the effectiveness of your instruction and assessment.

Post-Test Analysis: Whole Class

The data collected from the post assessments reveals that the level of student learning is at the
very least partially proficient for the entire class. After comparing the data from the pre
assessment and post assessment, several students increase their score significantly and achieve the
learning goal and increase their knowledge.

After reviewing the post assessment scores, it shows that the goal of the lesson plan was met and
my instruction was effective in assisting this class in meeting the learning objective. Six students
made significant improvement from the pre assessment to the post assessment on no student was
minimally proficient.
Post-Assessment Analysis: Subgroup Selection

The subgroup I chose to observe were the male students in the classroom. The male students
significantly increase their assessment scores and showed the most progress between both pre and
post assessments.

Post-Assessment Data: Subgroup (Gender, ELL population, Gifted, students on IEPs or 504s, etc.)

Post-Assessment Analysis: Subgroup

The male subgroup showed the most improvement from the pre-assessment to the post
assessment. The average score for the male subgroup was 69% for the pre assessment. Whereas
the average scores of the males subgroup after the post assessment was 85%. Because of the
significant increase in score, the instruction delivered was both effective and assisted in achieving
the learning objective for the unit

The male subgroup increased their knowledge of the subject of a proficient level and above and
met the expectations of the learning objective.

The class as a whole made significant progress from the pre assessment to the post assessment.
This leads me to believe my instruction was clear and effective for this unit.

My next steps for my instruction are to incorporate interactive electronic application. The
students in this class enjoys completing and learning from each other. The interactive electronic
applications works well in providing differentiation with instruction. I will also continue to
provide bell work on basic math skills and developing calculator skills or concepts previously
learning in previous units. The students in the class have a difficult time in retaining information.
Keeping previously learned concepts fresh is a best practice for this class to continue developing
the appropriate skill level.
