• IP ADDRESS- (Internet Protocol Address) is a
numerical label assigned to each device (e.g.,
computer, printer) participating in a computer
network that uses the Internet Protocol for
Communication.
• SUBNET MASK – is a mask used to determine
what subnet an IP address belongs to.
An IP address has two components :
The NETWORK ADDRESS and the HOST
ADDRESS.

1.Click the Start
Button then
point to Control
Panel and Click
to open.
2.In the Computer Settings, Click Network and
Internet Connection Icon.
3.Click and Open Network and Sharing
Center
4.Select Change Adapter Settings
5. Point to Local Area Connection
and then Right-Click.
6. Select Properties
7. From the list of
items, choose
Internet Protocol
Version 4
(TCP/IP)
8. Click the
Properties Button.
The Internet
Protocol
(TCP/IP)Properties
dialog box
appears.
9.Type the IP
Address for
your computer.
Enter the
appropriate IP
Address in the
IP address
section.
10. Type a
subnet mask.
The value
used on a
local area
network is
commonly
255.255.255.0
11. Type the
default
gateway
address.
Example:
192.168.1.0
12. Click
OK to
Confirm
Settings.
13. Close all
other open
dialog boxes
and
Windows.
14. Go back to Network and Sharing
Center
15. Choose Change Advanced Sharing
Settings.
16. When the
Different
Network Profiles
appear, Turn On
Network
Discovery,
Turn on File and
Printer Sharing,
Turn On sharing
so anyone with
network access
can read and
write files in
public folders.
Turn off Password Protected
sharing and Save changes

CHECK THE NETWORK
CONNECTIONS
1. Click Start
Button and
Point to
Computer
and Click it
to Open.
2. Select
Network
and Check
if you are
already
connected
to a Network
3. If you could see all computers In my
Network Places, You have successfully
configured a workgroup.
IPCONFIG COMMAND
•Ipconfig is a command used
to find out the IP address of a
certain network you are
connected to.
PING COMMAND
• The ping is a Command Prompt command
used to test the ability of the source computer
to reach a specified destination computer. The
ping command is usually used as a simple
way to verify that a computer can
communicate over the network with another
computer or network device.

SHARING
FILE SHARING
1. Select a File
that you
want to
share over a
network
2. Right
click,
Point to
Share with
and Select
Specific
People
3. Choose
People to
share with by
clicking the
down arrow,
choose
Everyone,
click add then
Share
4. And Lastly
When your
file is
already
shared,
Click Done
1. Click Start
Button,
Choose
Devices
and
Printers
2. Right Click the Printer, and
Choose Printer Properties
3. Click the Sharing Tab, and
Select the Share this Printer
4. Keep or Change the Share Name
and Click Apply
