EXTRA CREDIT PROJECTS

ONCE YOU COMPLETE AND TURN IN THE CLASSWORK ASSIGNMENT ABOVE, YOU MAY BEGIN
WORK ON ANY OF THE FOLLOWING EXTRA CREDIT PROJECTS.

Here are some different ideas for projects. Be creative and feel free to come up with your own project
idea (but you must ask Mr. Minot for permission first if you work on a different project!)

TOP 10 REASONS TO STUDY SPANISH

Design a poster that promotes the study of Spanish and lists the TOP TEN REASONS (in
your opinion) why it is important to study the Spanish language and culture. Think of this as
something that could be displayed in the classroom and/or given out to persuade students
and parents for their children to take Spanish.

SPANISH IN THE WORKPLACE

Why might it be useful to learn Spanish for a job? Create an advertisement that describes a
job or profession of your choosing and explain why Spanish will be useful or important in that
profession. Illustrate the advertisement and make it catchy and persuasive!

FAMILY ALBUM / FAMILY TREE (SPANISH 1)

Create and illustrate a Family Album or Family Tree in Spanish – labeling at least 10 family
members. Beneath the family tree, describe the family members’ relationships to each other
(For example: Mi madre se llama ____ or El padre de mi padre es _______ )

After creating the family tree, pick at least TWO family members and answer the following
questions about them in complete sentences in Spanish:
• ¿Cómo se llama? What is his or her full name?
• ¿Quién es? (Tu madre, padre, primo, etc)
• ¿Cuántos años tiene? Express his or her age in SPANISH.
• ¿Cómo es físicamente? Describe his or her eyes (los ojos) hair (el pelo) and body
(el cuerpo) in SPANISH.

your adjectives and remember gender agreement.
• ¿Qué le gusta hacer? Tell me about what activities he or she likes to do.

SHORT STORY / BOOK OF MEMORIES (SPANISH 2)

Create and illustrate a short story that talks about childhood activities/memories or what you
used to do as a child. Use the vocabulary and expressions we learned in class about
childhood activities as well as the Imperfect Tense. For more Extra Credit, describe WHY you
liked each of these activities while you were growing up.

FACEBOOK/MYSPACE PROFILE (SPANISH 1 OR SPANISH 2)
Design your own Facebook or MySpace Profile in Spanish on poster board. Be creative,
decorate the poster and make sure to include different vocabulary words in Spanish related
to your favorite activities/pastimes and likes and dislikes, as well as an ‘About Me’ Section
describing yourself (personality traits AND physical descriptions), as well as your name,
age, birthday, city of birth, etc).
• ¿Cómo te llamas? What is your full name?
• ¿Cuántos años tienes? Express your age in SPANISH.
• ¿Cómo eres físicamente? Describe your eyes (los ojos) your hair (el pelo) and
your body (el cuerpo) in SPANISH.
• ¿Cómo eres tu personalidad? Describe your personality in SPANISH, use your
adjectives.
• ¿Qué te gusta hacer? Tell me about what activities you like to do.

Las Favoritas: Write your favorites in Spanish. You should write in SPANISH. Choose at
least 6 of the following 10 categories.

Televisión Favorito (favorite tv show), Comida Favorita (favorite food), Tienda de Ropa
