we need some thrilling stuff that can mess with our mind completely. Psycho-
thrillers are something that can completely snatch away the peace of our mind. They
don't always fit neatly into the horror genre, yet they terrify us all the same.
With all their twists and turns the can leave us mind-fucked. Here are some awesome
psychological thriller movies that left us waiting, with bated breath, to see what
would happen next.

1. The Silence of the Lambs (1991)

This psychological drama derives its thrills from the fraught relationship between
Dr.

Hannibal Lecter and Special Agent Clarice Starling. Lecter's manipulative


psychobabble really gets under Starling's skin, making him one of the most
terrifying movie villains of all time.

2. Kill List (2011)

This horror thriller is about two retired soldiers who have taken up work as
hitmen. Their life gets creepy when they take a contract from an unknown client.
Later, when they get to know about the reality of the contract, they decided to
back out. But they soon find themselves becoming the targets and things take an
ugly turn.

3. Gone Girl (2014)

The film revolves around a couple, Amy and Nick. As the plot unfolds we learn that
Amy, is missing, presumed murdered, and many believe that Nick is responsible. As
Nick insists upon his innocence, the tale turns into a cat-and-mouse game, in which
nothing is as it seems, and no one can be trusted. This is indeed one of the best
psycho-thriller movies that shouldn't be missed.

4. Taxi Driver (1976)

Directed by Martin Scorsese, this classic psychological thriller movie is regarded


as one of the greatest films of all time. DeNiro plays Travis Bickle, an honorably
discharged U.S. Marine, who becomes a taxi driver to combat his chronic insomnia.
Things get intense, especially after Bickle meets Iris, a teenage prostitute played
by Foster, whom he wants to free from her pimp.

5. A Tale of Two Sisters (2003)

A Tale of Two Sisters is highest grossing Korean movie which revolves around a
teenage girl named Soo-Mi (Su-Jeong Lim) who is being cared for in a mental
hospital. She is released from the hospital and is welcomed by her sister and step
mother, only to face disturbing events between her stepmother and the ghosts
haunting their house- all of which are connected to a dark past in the family's
history.

6. Das Experiment (2001)

This German Psychological movie stars Moritz Bleibtreu as Tarek Fahd, or later only
to be known as Prisoner 77. A gruelling yet compelling watch, what makes Das
Experiment even more powerful, is the fact that it is based on actual events. Known
as the Stanford Prison Experiment, this was concocted as a study of the
psychological ramifications of becoming a prisoner or guard.

7. The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999)

Based on Patricia Highsmith's novel of the same name, this psychological thriller
left us on the edge of our seats. Matt Damon's portrayed of Tom Ripley whose
desperation to be close to the lifestyles of the rich and famous, through his
devotion to the spoiled Dickie Greenleaf and his girlfriend Marge Sherwood gave us
goose bumps.

8. Misery (1990)

This horror psychological thriller is the glimpse into the sordid mind of our
villain, Annie Wilkes that gives the movie a decidedly psychological flavour. The
scene where Annie takes extreme measures to make sure he doesn't disobey her . we
can guarantee you'll never see a sledgehammer the same way again.

Infamous for its wild twist ending, The Sixth Sense straddled the line between
psycho-thriller and horror. Little Cole is portrayed with some emotional problems
but it seems there's some problem with his doctor, Malcolm too. The Sixth Sense is

Directed by Darren Aronofsky, Black Swan is quite of like the female version of
Fight Club. While working on a new production of the ballet Swan Lake, the
pressures of being the prima ballerina get the best of Nina, resulting in some
strange hallucinations that have her, and the audience, wondering what's real and
what's not.
