To whom it may concern,

I take great pleasure in writing this letter of reference for Kelly Steffen. As the Assistant
Shippensburg Area Middle School principal I was able to observe Miss Steffen not only in the classroom, but
Middle School interacting with students, and faculty within the building. As a student teacher she assumed all
the roles as one of the teachers on a sixth grade team, teaching Math and Science to students
from a rural community setting.

put in a great amount of effort to create interactive and engaging lessons for her sixth grade
Assistant Principal students. She not only excelled at differentiating each lesson for her students, but was able to

apparent that she developed a great rapport with her students when observing her interactions
Guidance Counselors in areas such as the hallways and cafeteria. Because of this, the students had a great deal of

comfort zone. Her knowledge and implementation of technology proved to be an asset, and

was consistent with the building goal of having students taking more ownership of their own

learning. Although it was obvious that she took a great deal of time to plan and be prepared for
her lessons, Miss Steffen was so natural in her teaching that it appeared effortless.


Professionally, Miss Steffen developed a great rapport with her colleagues. She was
able to effectively communicate and share new ideas, with others. Her dedication to her own
professional growth and her willingness to learn and share ideas allowed her to not only
improve her own skills, but made an impression on her colleagues as well. Miss Steffen is a

dedicated professional. She works well with students, parents and staff. She would be an asset

to any building, and I unreservedly recommend Miss Steffen for a teaching position.
