GUIDELINES FOR GROUP ASSIGNMENT HTM400 (MARCH 2018 – JUN 2018)

Project Topic

Do a report on a TREND/S AND INNOVATION IN HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY. The trend/s should be

related with the hospitality industry. Students need to find ACADEMIC JOURNALS (3) and SUPPORTING
MATERIALS (ARTICLES/ BLOGS/ ETC) (3) that are related to trends in hospitality industry. The journals
and supporting materials should get approval from the lecturer). Based on the trend/s, students need to
come out with one INNOVATION that can be implemented and used by the industry. Innovation can be in
many forms (software / products / process / etc).

A written report with the following sections shall be submitted on the 11 th week of the semester.

Details in the report

- An introduction of the trend/s.

- The innovation created based on the trend/s.
- A SWOT analysis of the innovation.
- The problems and the recommended solutions (if any)
- Attach the journals and supporting materials in the appendices.
- Please include relevant statistics (if any), pictures (if any), graphs (if any) to enhance the report.

Format of the report

- Cover page
- Table of content
- Acknowledgement
- Contents (refer to ‘Details in the report’)
- Conclusion
- References
- Appendices (pictures/sample of forms/tickets/voucher/etc)
- Report should not be more than 40 pages and should not be less than 20 pages

Presentation

A 15-minutes presentation is required of each group which will be conducted between the 12 th week.
Every student has to participate in the presentation to be able to answer question.

Project Rules

1. There should not be more than 5 students in a group. Neither changing members nor changing teams
is allowed
2. No plagiarism will be tolerated
3. Please be as creative as you can in terms of report writing and presentation

Project evaluation

Report : 20%
Presentation :10%
