Big Ideas/Unit Goals:

- 1. The target of this lesson is that students can listen, speak, and write in Vietnamese fluent. Therefore, they can communicate in
daily Vietnamese lives.
- 2. Students will learn about the daily life of Vietnamese and the general information of Vietnamese holiday, food, traditional, and
some tips for you if you travel to Vietnam.
- 3. The other target of this unit to understand the culture of Vietnamese then they will have the connection between language and
culture. students discern how a culture views the world. Students comprehend the ideas, attitudes, and values that shape the target
culture.
- 4. Students can get a better result by using technology to support their study.

Unit Summary:

- The unit is created to introduce students about Viet Nam from the Vietnamese language to the culture. Students will learn basic
Vietnamese new vocabularies, learn how to write sentences, how to have the conversations by using new dictionaries, and overall
understanding the Vietnamese culture and language.
- This unit will have RL 11-12.4, RL 9-10.6, W 6.1, W 9-10.6, L 11-12.5and SL 11-12.3, of the California Content Standards that
are listed on the bottom. This Unit is the Language Arts area, and it is for Grade level from 6 to 12.
- Students will have some activities such as group communication about daily life in Vietnamese, group activity learning
vocabularies. Plus, for the last activity, students will read an article about Vietnamese's holiday to understand its culture.
