ASTHMA

A. Definition.
Asthma comes from the word asthma taken from the Greek meaning "difficult. In
general, asthma is a type of respiratory disorder, especially in the lungs. Asthma is commonly
known as" shortness of breath ". Shortness of breath occurs due to narrowing respiratory tract
due to excessive activity on certain stimuli.

the respiratory tract due to air pollution, dust, allergies, and so on.

B. Causes
1. factors in sufferers (intrinsic)
 Genetic aspects (descendants of asthma sufferers)
 Allergy
 An abnormal airway (easily aroused by fine objects) which causes constriction
 Gender
 Certain race / ethnicity

2. extrinsic environmental factors


 weather changes (from hot to cold or vice versa)
 Certain foods with preservatives, flavorings, and other additives
 small ingredients from inside the room (small animals, cockroaches, house dust)
or outdoors (mushrooms, smoke, pollen)
 Certain medicines
 stinging and stimulating smells
 unstable emotional conditions (anger, depression, excessive sadness, excessive
pleasure)
 cigarette smoke
 physical activity that is too heavy

C. Symptoms
 Difficulty breathing and often look breathless when doing a little heavy activity
 Frequent coughing, whether accompanied by sputum or not. Coughing is a sign
that something is wrong with the respiratory tract.
 Wheezing or voice "ngiik ... ngiik ... ngiiik ..." on the breath sounds of asthmatic
patients continuously.
 Chest tightness due to constriction of the respiratory tract due to certain stimuli.
As a result, to pump oxygen throughout the body must be extra hard (force) so
that the chest becomes congested.
 Feelings always feel lethargic and tired. This is due to the lack of oxygen supply
throughout the body.
 Difficulty sleeping because of frequent coughing or waking from chest
tightness.
 Not able to run long physical activities without experiencing respiratory
problems.
 The lungs do not function normally.
 More sensitive to allergies.

D. Treatment
1. Medical treatment
Medical treatment of asthma generally consists of two types, namely:
a). Treatment with reliever or treatment that is relief. This is commonly used to treat
mild and transient asthma attacks. This type of treatment can usually be obtained
freely in pharmacies and drug stores. To ensure safe use (according to type and
dosage), consult a doctor before using it.
b). Treatment with the controller. This is a treatment that addresses inflammation in
the respiratory tract and prevents re-attack.
2. Herbal Treatment
Here are some recipes for herbal treatments that you can practice at home :
a). Flower Knob

 Ingredients: Flower knob 10 florets, sufficient water.


 Processing method: Both ingredients are boiled with enough water to boil, strain
and cool, drink 3 times a day until healed.

b). Cocor Duck

 Ingredients: Cocor duck leaves to taste, pure honey to taste.


 Processing method: Cocor duck leaves are dried under the sun to dry. After that,
fine mash and use like brewing tea. Tea from cocor duck is taken 2-3 times a
day. Add pure honey if you don't like to drink it freshly. Do this at least in a
month's routine, the results will be seen for asthma healing.

c). Senggugu
 Ingredients : Senggungu root 20 grams, 250 cc water.
 Processing method: Wash thoroughly, thinly slice, and brew with 1 cup (250 cc) of
hot water. Strain and add pure honey to taste, drink while still warm.

d). Acid

 Ingredients: Water Acid tree bark 20 grams, fennel 10 grams, water 1,000 cc.
 Processing method: both ingredients are boiled with water until boiling. chill and
strain. The boiled water is taken 3 times a day.

e). Red Ginger

 Ingredients: 20 red ginger, 30 gram bitter leaves, 30 grams of leaf lime leaves, 30
gram leaves lampes, 1000 cc water, 1 tablespoon of pure honey (if you like).
 Processing method: All ingredients are washed, cut into sufficient amounts, then
boiled with 4 cups (1,000 cc) of water until the remaining 2 cups (500 cc) of water.
Strain and cool. Drink 2 times a day. Every time you drink add 1 tablespoon of pure
honey. Do it regularly until asthma is cured.
E. Preventive Action
1. Have a healthy and balanced life
2. Doing Exercise
3. Avoid Sources of disease
Stress, high cholesterol foods, working all day and all night, drugs.
4. Maintain the cleanliness of the house and environment
5. Consume foods that strengthens body stamina
