Welcome Congratulations and thank you for using Cubase LE 5! This
Read Me includes important information about installing and
using Cubase LE 5 on your Apple Mac OS X or PC Windows
computer.
We wish you creativity and success using Cubase LE 5!

Software licensing Please read the Software Licensing Contract displayed on


your screen when installing Cubase. By installing the
software you are declaring yourself to be in agreement with
the conditions in the contract.
If you want to read the Software Licensing Contract
independently from the installation process, or if you want to
print the contract, you'll find the text file on the DVD in the
'Additional Content/License' folder. Please open the file in
your preferred language.

Installation Depending on your system, the Cubase LE 5 Start Center


program on the DVD may start automatically. If no interactive
start menu appears, open the DVD and double click the file
“Cubase LE 5 Start Center”. From there you can start the
installation of Cubase LE 5 and browse through the additional
options and information presented there.
For more detailed information about installation, please read
the installation instructions, which are part of the “Getting
Started” PDF manual. This manual contains all the
information you need for getting Cubase LE5 installed and
running.
By the way, Cubase LE 5 does not overwrite any previously
installed version of Cubase.

Cubase license activation Cubase LE 5 requires online registration. Without activation,


Cubase LE 5 will run for 30 days. After that time activation is
required for further usage of the application. The remaining
time in the initial 30 day timeframe will be displayed each
time you start Cubase LE 5. Please make sure to activate
your Cubase LE 5 license permanently at no extra cost within
these 30 days. For further details about the license activation

Steinberg Soft-eLicenser Should you experience any difficulties with your Steinberg
Soft-eLicenser, go to the folder “Additional Content/Copy
Protection Driver” on the DVD and double-click the included
installation setup file. Alternatively, you can download the
latest version of this software from here:

First Cubase LE 5 start up The first time you start Cubase LE 5 it can take a while until
the loading process is finished. Cubase needs to gather all
components and plug-ins you may have installed.
Subsequent starts of the application will be much faster after
that.

Cubase LE 5 Documentation Cubase LE 5 full documentation, together with the “Plug-in


Reference” manual, is available in PDF format on the Cubase
LE 5 DVD in the folder “Additional Content/Documentation”.
All documents are available in electronic format only. Also
included on the DVD are informative tutorial videos that work
hand in hand with the written documentation.

Known issues in Cubase LE 5 To learn about known issues with Cubase LE 5, please take
note of the "Issues & Solutions” PDF document, which is
located in the "Read Me Files" folder.

Cubase 5 compatibility Projects created in Cubase LE 5 can be opened in Cubase


Essential 5, Cubase Studio 5 and Cubase 5 but not vice
versa. Please note that any additional content included with
Cubase LE 5 might not be available on another computer
which does not have Cubase LE 5 but a different version of
Cubase installed.

Support for ReCycle files (Mac If you want to use REX files with Cubase LE 5 for Mac OS X
OS X only) please install the Propellerhead REX component manually.
This is only necessary if you did not already install
Propellerhead ReCycle or Reason application. The REX
Shared Library installer is located on the Cubase LE 5 DVD
(Additional Content/Installer Data) and can be downloaded
here:
