Abstract

Views on the Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive

Health Act of 2012 range from positive approvals to a
striking amount of negativity- especially from the
Catholics. However, the idea never appealed to the
church, claiming: “anti-life” and “contraception is
corruption.” But how does this law, legislated by the
former President Benigno Aquino III, fit into our daily
lives as citizens of our country, the Philippines? Why is
there even a need to administer this law? It has pros and
cons, what are those?
Introduction

With the present-day circumstances, we agree of the RH

Law. Believing it is significant if implemented
accordingly. Not only is it applicable to teenagers and
raising awareness of the aftermath to having unprotected
sexual intercourse, but as well as maternal care and
advice to couples who are starting a family for the first
time. Another con to the matter is that, due to the
contemporary problem- poverty, it leads poor people to
be at the very least of the receiving end of opportunities
the RH Bill provides, or maybe even nothing at all. Then
again, there are other critical health problems that are as
equally important, like cardiovascular diseases and
infections.
Methodology

Here are some of the provisions that offer by RH Law:

a. Seminar/Sex Education- primarily, minors are given

a seminar about sexual intercourse for them to not be
gullible in the consequences of having unprotected sex-
or having sex in the first place- that could cause diseased
such as AIDS, HIV, STDs, syphilis, and other grave
issues.

b. Contraceptives- if the person or the family is not in

the capable state for providing for a child, contraceptives
are the alternative that prevents women from getting
pregnant. These pills have harmful side effects and are
the reason why the church detests this law so much.
Therefore, these birth-control medicines are advised as
for the (very) last resort.
Results

Based on our survey, some says:

× RH Law is important since it helps us to know more

about our Reproductive health.

× We should obey the RH Law by following their

commands and guidance

× RH Law is beneficial in terms of controlling the

population growth. RH Law can be called a population
control measure. Benefits of RH Law includes being
knowledgeable about sex and it can possibly cause
diseases.

The survey conducted foretells us the positive outcomes

of following the RH Law (Republic Act No. 10354) with
the benefits that we may receive or gain.

60% of them are willing to obey the RH Law; 40% are

against with it
Conclusion

To sum up everything that has been stated, the

importance of pursuing the guidelines of RH Law is
advantageous in being aware of the possible
contingencies to having unprotected sex, or having sex in
the first place. It may seem as a hassle, and time-
consuming to undergo through the proceedings of the RH
Law, but it is for the welfare of each individual. With the
contradictions of the church, the political and medium
debates, the RH Law stands to be of importance to our
lives now. And not only does it benefit the people today,
but to the next generation, too. Wouldn't anyone want a
bright and marvelous future?
