Narrative Report on the

Regional Training of Selected Grade 7 Teachers on the Critical Content of English 7
April 10-13, 2019 | Brentwood Apartelle, Baguio City
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You all know the old adage, “You cannot teach what you do not have.”

To capacitate the teachers the Grade 7 teachers on the Critical Content

in English 7, the Department of Education conducted a training on April 10-13,
2019 in Brentwood, Baguio City. The participants of this activity are teachers
handling Grade 7 English. There were at least 6 to 7 English teachers from each
division of the Cordillera Administrative Region.

This is how the trainers and the trainees work hard in making the 4-day
Regional Training on the Critical Content on Grade 7 English a success. After the
4-day eye brow scorching sessions, the training came up with its concluding
activity which is the return demo-teaching and the post-test. This is to assess
participants with the knowledge they gain and on how they are going to impart
the inputs they earned from the 4 days' session to their students. The demo-
teaching began on the afternoon of the third day (April 12, 2019) and
continued in the morning of the fourth day (April 13, 2019) of the training.

Post-test was done in the afternoon prior to the start of the demo
teaching on the third day. There were four demo-teachers who simultaneously
conducted teaching in their respective classes of their chosen topics based
from the assigned area. The demo-teaching shows the process on how the
explicit education was done on day-to-day activity be of use in each
concluding activity in every quarter. It means that the teacher must plan for an
interactive activity and will design day-to-day activity that would help in
achieving the goal. Post conference was done right after the demo teaching.

A closing program followed after the return demo-teaching. Mr. Patricio

Dawaton, the Regional English Supervisor challenged all the English teachers to
be motivated. All teachers should aim higher. They should be complacent with
their current position, but they should see themselves promoted. Indeed, it was a
worth satisfying activity seeing that the teacher-participants really enjoy the
seminar, gain new insights and encouraged to be English teachers. Truly, I
believe that teacher-participants will go back in their respective station
equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge as agent of learning among
its clientele-the students.
