Business is a practice of making one’s living by engaging in commerce. When a

business uses websites it becomes E-business or E-commerce.

Shopee and Carousell are both using internet for their business. Both are in e-

commerce industry and are both consumer-to-consumer (C2C) marketplace but Shopee also

became business-to-consumer. In Shopee the buyers and customers can communicate and

make transactions directly. They are mobile only, very socially-oriented. The sellers care about

the shops reputation and the users, so that the buyer has more satisfied shopping experience.

The buyer can easily buy just by tapping or adding the items to the cart. While the Carousell

uses chat-style interface with photo uploading option to connect consumers who are interested

in buying-selling items. It can sell in a snap and buy it with a chat. The seller or buyer can have

a private chat about the product.

In profit section, Shopee does not not charge sellers fees/commissions and listing fees.

They are earning through the shipping fees of the buyer and by advertising the product.

Carousell earn their profit through paid ads and premium services. They also raise funding

from investors in exchange of larger shares in the company.

In the side of the system, the seller can just take a snap of the product and post in

Carousell, chat the buyer and talk about the product privately. While on Shopee, you can post

the product but you can’t interact or chat the buyer. You’ll just get notified if the product was

bought. For the buyer, it is like more convenient to use Carousell because you can talk to the

seller directly unlike the Shopee where you will just scroll and click and no more talks about the

prices. This companies may be different with some ways they are still both selling products.
