Wednesday: 20.30 to 21.45

Duration: 120 min.

Warm up:

The teacher will take two cards with two phrases: “I wish” and “If only”and she will

stick them on the board. The students will look at them and they have to guess what do

they mean.
Development:

The teacher will introduce the topic “Wishes” to the students. She will teach them the

grammar structure with lots of examples: first with present situations (I wish + past

simple) to change and then with past situations ( I wish + past perfect). Then they will

copy on their copybooks the theory and the examples. After that they will use the

handouts (copy or online) and they will start with the exercises. They will have to read

different situations between a boy and a man. The boy has got a bad cold and they will

have to write sentences expressing different wishes in the present. The man has been on

holiday and he had a terrible time. They will have to form sentences with different

wishes expressing regrets.

Round Up:

The students will see a picture with a family doing different activities (noisy activities

and disturbing). The students will see the pictures and they .will write sentences saying

wishes to change these situations.

Warm up:

The teacher will greet the students. Then they will write on the board three sentences

with I WISH (present situations and past situations)

Development:

The teacher will give the students a copy with a song with “wish” structures in it. The

students will put their headphones and they will have to listen to the song (I wish I were

here by Avril Lavigne) on their phones. After listening to the song twice or three times

they will have to complete it. After that they will check it all together. Then the teacher

will continue with the handout with other exercises where they will have to put the

verbs in brackets into the correct tense. After the exercise they will have to write

different wishes according to the different situations they will read. They will do it with

their classmates. Finally the teacher will give them an exercise where they will have to

correct the mistakes they will found in different sentences and they will have to write

them correctly.

Round up:

After some minutes the teacher will check all the exercises with the students.

Warm up:

The teacher will greet the students. Then they will make a brief review again with the

structures I wish/If only.

Development:

The teacher will talk with the students about the review she will do with them with all

the time tenses they have seen during the year. The teacher will start making a review

with the time tenses the students are working in this topic. She will review past simple

and past perfect. First they will listen and they will participate in an oral review. After

that the teacher will give them a copy with two exercises where they will have to

complete sentences with past simple or past perfect. Then they will complete a text with

the two time tenses correctly. Finally the students will check the answers with the

teacher and clear any doubts they could have.

Round up:

The teacher will give them sentences to complete with their own personal opinions.

They will have to write them in simple past or past perfect.

Warm up:

The teacher will greet the students. Then she will give them a copy for them to make a
written practice with I wish/ If only.

Development:

The students will have to do all the exercises alone taking into account what they
studied. The written practice will have three exercises. In the first one they will have to
make sentences using I wish. In the second one they will have to complete sentences
and the third one they will have to look at the pictures and write people wishes.

Round up:

The students will give the teacher their written practices.
