Dear Maria Martinez:

I am applying for the Spanish and Social Studies teacher position that you advertised on the APS job list.
I am a certified teacher with a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education with three concentrations,
Spanish, Language Arts, and Social Studies. I also have a TESOL endorsement and I am currently working
on a bilingual endorsement that will be completed by next semester. I am uniquely qualified for the
position and can immediately start teaching.

My previous work experience has always been in the education field. My first job was as a tutor/mentor
for the Upward Bound Program at UNM. After 3 years I started my student teaching at Atrisco Heritage
Academy, where I was then hired as a Spanish teacher. Here is where I learned all my teacher
characteristics such as APS community, interaction with students, evaluating students and coordinating
curriculum in the classroom. I feel that as a teacher I am always capable of making good relationships
with students. After teaching for five years, I took a break from teaching to pursue research on minority
students. Now that I am done with my research, I am ready to start working with students and help
them be successful in school.

I will be able to immediately start working and contributing to Highland High School. I have experience
with students from ages 14 to 18 years old and English language learners. I am also certified in first aid
and I can handle any medical emergency that can occur in a classroom.

Thank you for this opportunity to apply for this opening. I look forward to hearing from you about this
exciting position. I can be contacted on my cell (123)456-7890 or through my email
(teacherjob@helpme.com).

Sincerely,

Sarai Maldonado
