Stakeholder

Stakeholder is people or a group of people, who has a stake or interest in the project. The
followings are the stakeholders involved in the Distance Learning System:
 Internal to the project team:

This group is focus on stakeholders who are controlled by the project leader directly.
 External to the project team (in the same organization of the Internal Team):

This group is not under the project leader’s control but they will help the project manager to
implement system function and testing.
 External to both project team and the organization:

Customers and users will benefit from the system.

Work Breakdown Structure

Distance Learning System

1. Registration/ Login: Student can register an account and all users can login the system.
Administrators can create or modify an account.
a) Student Registration: Student will input some basic information (Name, ID-number,
Contact, Address, etc.) to finish the registration.
b) Login: All users can input their user name and password to login.
c) Administrator Control: Administrators can create an account with the right as Teacher.
They also have the right to modify and delete some accounts (i.e. a teacher who doesn ’t
teach now, or student who has finished his study.).
2. Course Category List: Classify courses, student can view all courses and select what they
want.
a) Course Code: Every course is added with a code which related with the course name.
b) Course Information: All users can view the certain course’s teacher, period, name and
code.
c) Course Publishing: Teachers and Administrators can publish a new course’s teacher,
period, name and code.
d) Course Selecting: Users can select the course they want to attend
e) User Type Distinguishing: users are distinguished by user rights, so that they can have
different operations.
3. Searching: search course or user.
a) Course Code: searching by type course code
b) Keywords: searching by keywords of course or user.

4. Subjects: most detailed information of the subjects in system. It contains many items such as
courses, resource links, FAQ, Quizzes, MDB, GDB and so on.
a) Course Discussion Board: teachers can open the discussion board after the lecture or at
a purposed time. Students use this platform to ask some questions. Every student can
come up with some questions about the lecture. So teachers can give the student an
exact answer about the questions.
b) General Discussion board: students can put questions on the board. Whether a teacher
or a student if you know the answers you can give a response. And if someone is
interesting on some ideals on the board, they can go further discussion personally.
c) Quizzes: student in the system, they can have all kinds of tests at some time. It is good
for them to practice what they learn in the online lecture. The teacher could give each
student a grade for their quizzes.
d) FAQ: For students to hand out some problems and new ideals so that the teacher will
have a look then give a good answer or he will give a nice method to guide students to
have a definite solution.
e) Resource links: By some kinds of useful links, users can easily have more detailed and
exactly knowledge to work questions out. The links contain libraries, project materials
and research departments and so on.
f) Course Content: In this phase, many items are contained: lecture slides, search block,
course information, overviews, Downloads, assignment and grades.
i. Lecture slides: the lecture of each lesson will be put on the system by the teacher;
every student on the lesson will get it and learn.
ii. Search block: Search function will be provided for users of the system to find their
interest, so if anyone interests a course but he does not know the information, then
search function help him much to get all what he wants.
iii. Course information: all detailed information of the course is all lists here. Like
location, time schedule, teachers, communications, learn method, grades and
everything for students.
iv. Overview: a general description about the course and teachers.
v. Download: some materials such as lecture slides, reference books, assignments,
drafts and so on can be downloaded easily by every user.
vi. Assignments: for each course teachers will give assignments to evaluate the
performance of students. It contained assignment title, information, updates,
deadline, and mark.
vii. Grades: for each course the quizzes grade, assignment grade and examination
grade will be offered respectively by the teachers. And each student can see their
grades, total and average grade.
5. Course resources: documents or files related to a certain course, and also useful links.
a) Files: include course books, lectures data, links and so on.
i. Publishing/Uploading: users who have a right as “Teacher” or “Administrator”
can publish or upload files.
ii. Viewing/Downloading: all users can view or download the published files.
iii. Modifying: users who have a right as “Teacher” or “Administrator” can modify the
files.
b) Course Category List Interface: users can enter this system by course list provided
Course Category List system.
c) User Type Distinguishing: users are distinguished by user rights, so that they can have
different operations.

6. Assignment Module: Both for teachers and students. It including three parts: Assign
publisher, Assign setting and Assign up-loader.
a) Assign publisher: teachers can publish an assignment and sent information to the notice
board through this.
b) Assignment Time setting: For teachers to write related information about the
assignment and set beginning and ending time about the assignment.
c) Assign up-loader: For students to upload the assignment
d) Assign downloader: For teachers to download the assignment
e) Result: the teacher will give a grade after reading the assignment to every student.
f) Comments: teachers will give a comment accompany with result for each student.
Every student has the right to argue a secondary grade if they do not satisfy the first
grade.

7. Examination Module: It contains registration, examination state and sign-up help and
examination regulations for teachers and students.
a) Sign up for examination (Examination registration): These are limited sets for
examination, so students must register the exam for administrator to arrange the sets.
b) Examination state: To show the registration information and exam state for each
student.
c) Sign-up and examination regulations: Putting some documental materials to help
student registration and highlight the examination regulations by teachers.
i. Examine: teacher can publish exams and student can answer the questions via
website.
1. Questions: teachers publish questions contained multiple choice questions
and description questions.
2. Answers: students answer questions.
3. Grade: teachers give grade about both the multiple choice questions and the
description questions to student.
4. Comments: teachers will give a comment accompany with result for each
student. Every student has the right to argue a secondary grade if they do not
satisfy the first grade.
8. Notice Board: Notice board is used for putting some official information to both students
and teachers.
a) Information board: teachers put some guide information (like “where is the course and
student’s examination guide”) and some useful information that all students needed (like
personal number and social number and security number).
b) News from BTH: News from BTH is aimed to put latest news which related to BTH on
the notice board for students and teachers by administrator.

9. Mail Box: Every registered student and teacher can send and receive messages in this
system. And they can search messages according to kinds of catalogues such as course type,
major type, user type,all type, etc.
a) Send: write and send e-mail
i. Recipient: user can select recipient by searching catalogues as course category,
user type.

ii. Text Box: users write text.
iii. Reading: users read text.
iv. Attachment: users can add some attachments in every email.
