Abstract

This study examines the lack of community participation in maintaining cleanliness and tranquility of
animals in tourist attractions, especially at the Surabaya Zoo. Even though there are already their
respective officers on duty, but as a good community, they should be aware of the importance of
disposing of garbage in its place and not carelessly disturbing animals, besides this activity can be
self-cultivation to always maintain cleanliness wherever we are. The purpose of this study is to
explore the motivation for the community to participate in maintaining cleanliness and tranquility so
that animals do not feel disturbed by the surrounding environment. The process of collecting data is
done by interviewing zoo officers and participating directly. Then from the field work material that
we can analyze. The results of the analysis are very useful for understanding how to increase
motivation to the community in the survival of living things around them.
