Q3) The Dean Faculty of Science wishes to determine the amount of studying students do . He
selected a random sample of 40 students and recorded the number of hours each student studies

Q1) It is known that in a batch of screws 20% are faulty. A sample of four screws is selected
from the batch. Determine the probability that

Q3) Suppose the average number of lions seen on a 1-day safari is 5.


What is the probability that tourists will see fewer than four lions on the next 1 –day
safari?

Q4) If X is a Poisson random variable such that 90 P(X=6)=9 P(X=4)+P (X=2), determine the
mean and the standard deviation of X.

Q5) The probability that an item manufactured by a factory is defective is 0.3. What is the
probability that out of a sample of five items, more than two are defective?.

Q6) Describe briefly Binomial distribution hence find the probability of having 8 customers
buying my product if 12 will visit me tomorrow and past experience shows that out of 10
customers who visit me 4 purchase the product.
