Task 4 Cycle. Individual activity. Case analysis of a document
Please answer the following questions

1. What is the cause or environmental problem generated

according to the article and where it is developed.

RTA: According to the Article Chromium contamination (Cr) caused by

wastewater from tanneries is a global environmental problem.
Therefore, we propose the use of our original high efficiency and low
cost depurative as a countermeasure to address the global problem of
environmental contamination by Cr.

2. Which diseases can be presented by the handling of Cr

according to the article

RTA: Diseases caused by environmental pollution in Japan include Itai-

Itai disease, which was caused by contamination of cadmium (Cd) in the
Jinzu River (Maruzeni et al., 2014), and Niigata Minamata disease, which
was caused by mercury (Hg) contamination in Agano Río (Hara et al.,
2013). Arsenicosis was caused by arsenic (As) contamination in the
Mekong River in Cambodia (Sampson et al., 2008). It has been
suggested that several diseases, including cancers and cardiovascular
diseases, are caused by lead (Pb) and Cd contamination in the
Hengshine River in China (Wang et al., 2011). Thus, the presence of
toxic metal pollutants in the water of rivers. It is a global danger to
human health.

3. What is the effect of co-exposure to Cr (VI) and Cr (III)

RTA: Our biological study then showed that co-exposure to Cr (VI) and
Cr (III) in the possible proportions in the channel water at Hazaribagh
synergistically promotes the transforming activity of non-tumorigenic
human HaCaT keratinocytes with activated MEK / ERK and AKT.
4. What is the conclusion of the study?

RTA: Our environmental engineering study finally demonstrated that

MF-HT, a low cost and high efficiency depurative, can be used for the
elimination of Cr (VI) and Cr (III). Therefore, our exhaustive study has
provided a feasible countermeasure for Cr contamination in canals and
river waters.

5. Sustenance why this article is relevant for the environmental

epidemiology course.

RTA: This article is very important for the matter Environmental

Epidemiology because in it are exposed each of the contaminations that
cause many diseases. In addition to this, our environmental engineering
study finally demonstrated that MF-HT, a low cost and high efficiency
depurative, can be used for the elimination of Cr (VI) and Cr (III).
