2503/ AU-1301- 6th-SEM/DL-H

Dear Student,

Welcome to the Sixth Semester of the Assam University – CIDC Weekend Diploma Program.

To enable you to effectively plan your time and manage to do well in the program, I am enclosed
the following documents and guidelines, which I suggest that you read well at the beginning of the program.

1. Syllabus of courses for the current Semester.

List of Text books required for the Sixth Semester Hindi Medium. Kindly buy the books at the
earliest.
2. Hourly Break-up of Study Hours over the Semester, for all papers.
3. Schedule of your activities for the Sixth Semester (Summary sheet & Details).
4. Evaluation Scheme for 6th Semester. Kindly note the number of hours you are expected to put
in for self–study, which includes the time to be spent on assignments and preparation for tests
and exams.
5. Assignments to be completed by you during this semester. Please note that there are two
assignments & you have to submit both the assignments on or before the due dates as indicated
on each of them. Failure to do this may lead to your disqualification for semester examination.

Moreover, please note:

1. Assignments: Assignments are at the core of your process of learning and practice of the
course. Focus on doing them to the best of your understanding. Try to use your own words
when answering, rather then copying from the books or other peoples note. A large
percentage of marking is reserved for individuality of attempts at answers.

NOTE: All Assignments have to be done in your own handwriting and to be submitted in
time as per schedule enclosed.

If Assignments are not received in time, they will not be accounted for in the final marks
and you shall have to register for make-up in Internals in a subsequent Semester after
paying requisite fees. The assignments have
to reach our project office at:

Construction Industry Development Council

801 (8th Floor), Hemkunt Chambers,
89, Nehru Place, New Delhi - 110019
Contact No. - 011-47670800 on or before the specified due date.

2. Course Guide: You will be required to nominate a Course Guide who will help you
to plan the way you can effectively study, considering your work and other commitments.
I am enclosing the list of duties of a course guide.

A typical course guide may be –

a) A retired or serving Engineer, Teacher or Principal with long working

experience.

b) A B.E. with minimum 5 years experience in the field of engineering or First Class
Diploma Holder with minimum 10 years field experience.

c) The search for your local guide has to be your own. In case CIDC finds some
suitable guide in your area, he/she will be recommended to you automatically.

3. Practicals: you would be given specific sets of dates where your labs can be conducted at
nominated centres in India, where you will have to travel at your own cost to take the labs.

4. Mid Semester Exams, Final Exam & Final Practical Exams: A convenient Study centre
shall be nominated by CIDC where you shall have to travel at your own cost to take your
Mid- Semester, Final Exams & Practical Exams which shall be conducted by CIDC. The
Exams shall normally be conducted on weekends. ALL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED
TO TAKE THESE EXAMS.

In case you have any questions, please contact:
