Scope
Research on Chemical Intermediates is an international journal, whose aim is to provide both current research articles
and concise dynamic reviews on the properties, structures and reactivities of intermediate species in all the various
domains of chemistry and related disciplines such as spectroscopy, molecular biology and biochemistry, atmospheric
and environmental sciences, photochemistry and photophysics.

Instructions to Authors

Submission of Manuscripts
Primary research papers may be received by the Editors or a member of the Editorial Board and after review by two
expert referees will be forwarded to the Editors with recommendations concerning publication. Review articles will be
solicited by the Editors or the Editorial Board.
Submission of an article is understood to imply that the article is original and unpublished and is not being considered
for publication elsewhere. Upon acceptance of an article by the journal, the author(s) will be asked to transfer the
copyright of the article to the publisher to ensure the widest dissemination of information. It is the author's
responsibility to ensure that submissions are complete and correct as no page proofs ate provided for correction .

Preparation of Primary Research Manuscripts

It is preferred that, if possible, the manuscript be prepared on an IBM PC compatible word processor and sent on either
a 5 _ in. or 3 _ in. floppy disk along with one hard copy of the manuscript with original drawings. Alternatively, three
copies of the manuscript including original drawings may be submitted.

Format of Manuscripts: Manuscripts should be typed with double spacing on 8:5 x 11 in. white paper leaving l in.
margins on all sides and having pages numbered consecutively.

Title: The title should be concise and clearly convey to the reader the nature of the contents of the paper.
Address: The name(s) of the author(s) and the name and address of the institute where the research work was done
should be indicated on the manuscript. The name of the author to whom correspondence should be addressed should be
indicated.
Abstract: An abstract of not more than 100 words containing the keywords of the paper as well as the essence of the
results is required. .
Use of IUPAC nomenclature and SI units and symbols is strongly recommended.
Formulae: Displayed formulae should be numbered and typed or unambiguously written by hand. Symbols requiring
different type, like vectors, tensors, etc. should be identified properly in the typescript. Special attention should be paid
to characters that can easily be misread, such as i (lower case), I (cap.), l (el), 1(one), _(prime), o (lower case), O (cap.),
0 (zero), º(degree), u, v, _ (Greek nu), V (cap.), x,_, X, z, Z, p, P, _ (Greek rho), etc.
Figures: The drawings for the figures should be of high contrast, suitable for direct reproduction, carefully lettered and
submitted on separate sheets. Figure sizes should be kept to half a page or less whenever possible. The drawings should
preferably be the same size as the typescript, and the lettering as well as the essential details should be designed so as to
be legible after a reduction in print of 25%. Each figure requires a number and a caption: the captions should be listed
on a separate sheet. The appropriate place for each figure in the text should be indicated in the margin.
Tables: Tables should be typed on separate sheets and each table should have a number and a title. The appropriate
locations for insertion of each table should be indicated in the margin.
References: In the text, reference to other parts of the paper should be made by section (or equation) number not by
page number. References to other papers should be numbered consecutively in the text and should be listed numerically
on a separate sheet at the end of the paper and be presented as follows:
(a) For a book: '
P. Hobza and R. Zahradnik, Intermolecular Complexes, Elsevier, Amsterdam, 1988, p. 102. Or for edited works:
M.T. Bowers, in J.P. Maier (Ed.), Ion and Cluster Ion Spectroscopy and Structure, Elsevier, Amsterdam, 1989. p. 241.
(b) For periodicals:
J.A. Pople, B. Tidor and P.v.R. Schleyer, Chem. Phys. Lett. 88, 439 (1982).
The title of the periodical must be abbreviated according to the system used in Chemical Abstracts.

Reprints and Honorarium

Research on Chemical Intermediates levies no page charges. Twenty-five reprints of each article will be provided free
of charge; additional reprints can be ordered by the authors. Authors of review articles will be provided with a modest
honorarium.
