(GIS) Use of Cutting-edge Mapping Technologies for Mitigation of Climate Change effects,
State-of-the-art surveying instruments and mapping technologies can provide the
necessary database for planning mitigation measures to counter potential adverse effects
of climate change. Light detection and ranging (Lidar) and cloud-penetrating radar
technologies coupled with high-resolution satellite imagery provide accurate and timely
digital databases for predicting and modeling climate change effects including sea level
rise, coastal erosion, storm surge and other related environmental problems.

Requirements: Participants need to bring their own laptop for GIS Installation. Laptop with
Windows 7 or up on the 1st day of the Seminar (Need to install our
provided GIS Software), Power Extension & Flash Drive

This two-day course gives you an overview of GIS and other Geospatial Technologies, and introduces the
Open Source GIS solution, Quantum GIS (QGIS). It is ideal for users who are completely new to GIS and
those who already have experienced using GIS software and are now looking to make the transition to, or
being adept at using an open solution.

The course covers data analysis and map creation and will show you how to add GIS datasets from
various sources, and symbolizes your data to suit your needs. You will also learn how to present data for
printing and how to query your datasets based on both location and attributes.
