Dear Sir/Madam

I am currently studying for a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of

Bath. I am near the completion of my year long internship with BP after which I would have the
summer of 2012 to gain understanding of the global financial markets. I am writing to you to be
considered for the position of Research Intern over the summer as advertised on AlphaSights
website.

A team starting from ex-employees of investment strategy leaders like Goldman Sachs and
Morgan Stanley and the Armed Forces makes AlphaSights both unique and auspicious. I
would thrive in a place where ability and performance describes a team member. AlphaSight’s
approach of flexible and innovative service focused on delivering prompt service to clients
makes it my first choice.

My interest in financial markets gained momentum while working in BP’s Global Fuels
Technology. I realized the importance of market trends and financial drive on upcoming
technologies and was amazed that even technical decisions were influenced by the financial
needs of a particular market. The consumer formed the driving force of any business decision
and knowledge: the tool to carve out the best course of action. An investor about to buy
Facebook shares may not know he’s bidding on a single person: Mark Zukerberg who unlike
any other founder has the maximum control over the company. He owns the class B shares
which give him 10 to 1 voting power on the company’s decisions.
The mix of political instability, natural calamities and unforeseen situations make intelligence
even more challenging and ever important. The competitive edge lies with the participant with
the right information at the right time. The challenge and value being a “knowledge broker”
offers makes it my dream job.

I am aware of my strengths and aim to use my problem solving skills to look at Research from
a different angle. Being trained to be meticulous, I am accurate in my work, focused, delivery
oriented, hardworking and I have a good eye for detail. I am confident in managing and
manipulating spreadsheet data and producing user-friendly graphs, tables and reports aimed
to simplify and impart knowledge quickly. I have gained confidence in my abilities and learned
to make the most of the resources I have. On my CV I have examples of excellent people skills
as well as diverse interests.
I will be thrilled if given an opportunity to be a part of AlphaSights as a Research Intern.
