Obtaining my degree at UMKC in Nursing and furthering my education to become a Physician's

Assistant will allow me to make many positive contributions to society by helping the well being of the

general population. I plan to contribute positively to society with my degree and skills that I will have

acquired through UMKC by helping the people to be at optimal levels of health. The health of the

people in a community is a vital part of society, if the citizens are not healthy in society things in the

community would not be run correctly, or productively as the people would not be able to be an active

participant in society. The role of anyone who is majoring in a profession in the healthcare pathway or is

a part healthcare team is important in many more aspects other than just ensuring the people of the

society are healthy enough to function and perform the daily duties that any citizen would.

Working as a Physician Assistant with a medical degree from UMKC, I will have the

opportunity to shape the future of health policies. The world has drastically changed in recent years with

many resourceful types of technologies to help us better understand things in medicine. As a person with

insight into patient health, I will have great influence on how government officials view healthcare

policies relevant to patient care to ensure that they are in place to benefit the public.

By pursuing a career in healthcare, I am also going into a career that has the role of educating the

people of society; working with patients will require teaching the patient how to remain healthy, regain

their health, or how to manage their health with a condition they may have. Being a part of the

healthcare field also has a positive impact on society’s economy. Medical practices are businesses that

open up jobs for people outside healthcare and not just medical providers. Working in this field, I will

ensure my business stays open, not just to provide healthcare to patients, but to provide other jobs such

as cleaning staff to ensure everything stays clean and to minimize the spread of disease, and repair

companies to service the influx of ever-changing medical technologies.

 Earning my medical degree from UMKC will allow me to have many different positive

contributions to society. Being in the healthcare field with my degree and working as a Physician

Assistant I will be able to ensure that people are healthy and able to be productive citizens in society,

help make governmental policies better, and ensure they are to the benefit of the general public. Further,

I will educate the people of society so they can remain healthy or regain their health, and also positively

impact the economic aspect of society by providing jobs and possibly even adding to existing job

opportunities.
