Dear Figueroa,

Coming into senior year I was adequate in my writing. The last past years of high school I
would score twos or threes, what I would most struggle in the last would be getting my thoughts
together. I would get off topic a lot, the way I would get off topic would be when I had to have a
plot in a story or any writing assignment. I would introduce the plot and not go back to the
original topic that I had before. Also, in the previous years I would struggle with dead words. I
would use mostly “really good”, “things”, “stuff” etc. This was a big problem for me because I
would always think the reader would understand me when, I had to be clearer on what I was
trying to say. Lastly, I would struggle with introducing a quote I would use drop quotes, I would
not be able to in- text citate. Now that senior year is almost to an end I know more about writing.
I can do in- text citation and introduce the author to the reader so the reader knows why the quote
goes with the writing assignment. Another thing that I can do is to not get off topic too often and
I'm also able to transition back to the same point that I started with. My thoughts are now are
clear and I do not struggle much in my punctuations I know where commas and periods go, also
why and how they are used. My writing process has gotten better. The writing assignments that I
have had the previous years and this year have helped me in being able to fix my errors and be
able to become a better writer. I want to be able to get a score between eighty-five or ninety,
which is a “3” and a”4” in writing form. The reflections, revisions and your feedback have
helped me be able to achieve high grades and be able to go back and see where I have made the
mistakes. This is beneficial for me because it helps me with not making the same mistake twice
and I know where I have made the errors. Lastly, the help that I receive from you has also helped
me in becoming a good writer because without your help in making sure I had my ideas well
thought out I would not have the essays that I have now if I didn’t receive your help. My
strengths in writing I would say I have is being able to not use contraction words and be able to
use different authors point of view depending of what types of writing assignment I am going to
be writing. What shocked me the most is being able to score high in my assignments and being
able to go back and change things rather than just giving a narrow essay to be grated. My post
proud essay would have to be my senior paper the purpose of that paper was to research and
write about it how it was a social issue. I liked this paper because I wrote about something that I
was passionate about it and I could express how I felt about that topic to the readers. This
Portfolio has had me in a bit of stress because I want it to be good and well presented, but I also
know that in order for me to get those things I have to work extra hard and not give up I am so
close to the finish line. My writing accomplishments will be used in the future when I want to go
into the work place I will already know how to create a resume and how to do a cover letter. All
the grammar, punctuations, and the use of professional words will help me become a better
writer, reader, and speaker. My writing goals for after high school is being able to have all the
skills, I learned in high school for the past 4 years and use them for when I go to college. I hope
to never lose any of the information that I have learned in high school for example, being able to
do a word cited page or knowing how to do an MLA format without the help of a teacher. I hope
that in college I continue working hard and keep getting good grades in all my assignments
