Assignment Title: Resume Reflection

Student Writing Goal: My writing goal is to score an 80% or higher on my mid-unit and end of unit assessments. I
would also like to improve on my writing skills and to stay on task with the prompt. Lastly I want to improve on my
vocabulary skills.

Instructions:
1) Re-read the paper (and teacher feedback).
2) Complete this reflection sheet.

What was the purpose of this writing assignment?

The purpose of this writing assignment was to go back and revise the mistakes on my resume. There was a lot
of sentences that I could have paraphrase into one-word answers. I also kept typing in first person a lot. My
resume was also out of order; I had to rearrange somethings.

How did you perform in relation to the expectations of the writing rubric?
I had the right idea of doing the assignment. I wrote everything I needed to; I just wrote too much. I learned
that to get right to the point is better than going more in debt when it comes to a resume.

What aspect of this piece did you do well? (give example/quotes to support claims)
Before revising I did really well on my objective, “A hardworking, dedicated high school student seeking a
part-time position in the retail industry”. This objective still relates to me because I completely refuse to work
in fast food. After revising, under skills I had to offer and I was able to create many examples.

Why have you/haven’t you chosen to revise this writing assignment?

A resume is something you need for life; in order to get a job you will, for the most part need a resume. This
paper is a step you need for the real world. Having this assignment also gives us a taste on things we need to
work on and experience we need. It also shows us how prepared or unprepared we are.

What will you do better in your next writing assignment, and how will I do it?
Yes, I will do better on my next writing assignment. I will do better by going over the assignment more. Most
definitely being more time orientated so I can actually try my best and put more of an effort in the paper.

To what degree of success did you achieve your previously stated goal(s)?
I did pretty well on my success on my goal, I got full credit for it. After I revised it my vocabulary was on a
higher level. I also stood on task and shortened my sentences.
