NWSF, a foundation supporting sarcoma patients, education and research throughout the
Pacific Northwest, seeks a dynamic and compassionate leader as our next Washington
Director. The Washington Director is responsible for developing relationships with donors
and sponsors to increase the visibility and contributions to the Northwest Sarcoma
Foundations’ mission and, thereby, supporting the sarcoma community and organizing and
executing events that provide assistance to patients and families.
Reporting to the Executive Director (ED), this position is the forward facing promoter of the
Foundation in Washington. Working with a virtual team, this position demonstrates effective
time management, a strong customer service focus, project management, and regular
communications to ensure programs and services are delivered on time and within budget
limits.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Event Coordination (40%)
● Manage events with the cooperation of committees and foundation staff, including
negotiating venues, food/beverage procuring, sponsorship money and items for auction,
marketing tickets, arranging for audi/video materials, overseeing and coordinating all other
event-related activities
● Prepare a budget prior to each event and provide weekly progress reports to Executive
Director (ED), and periodic progress reports for the board of directors
● Submit an event follow up report that provides a summary of event results, proposed
versus actual budget and measurable outcomes within 1 week of completion of each event
Collaborate with Foundation staff and community partners to coordinate third-party events
Administration (5%)
● Provide administrative support to ED
• Prepare and submit monthly program performance and financial reports
• Submit weekly time and effort reports
• Participate in weekly virtual team meetings
• Coordinate thank you letters to volunteers and sponsors
• Other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
● Excellent interpersonal communications skills: oral and written, from email to
annual appeal
• Sound professional judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality with team
members and others.
• Provide routine and ongoing communications about workload, challenges and requests
for assistance from team members.
• Strong customer service focus and commitment to serving others with respect and
compassion

• Ability to manage multiple projects with competing timelines; excellent time
management skills

• Strong understanding of non-profit work and how to identify key partners to engage in
the mission of the foundation
• Competency with Microsoft Word, Excel, QuickBooks, CiviCRM, Greater Giving, and
Google Drive preferred, comfort with learning new software required.
Performance Expectations
• Actively participate in weekly team meetings by contributing ideas to discussions.
• Prepare accurate and timely reports for supervisor and Board of Directors meetings
• Maintain open and ongoing communication with supervisor to keep him/her
informed of new funding and partnership opportunities to promote the Foundation..
• Maintain a weekly calendar of office hours
• Participate in monthly board meetings (Third Sunday evening of each month)
• Demonstrate a strong service oriented focus and timely response to emails and
phone calls
• Deliver high quality programs and services and maintain a standard of excellence.
• Provide summary reports for each program and event including analysis of
participant satisfaction and recommendations for improvement
• Actively participate in and provide backup support for other team members
