My first interdisciplinary project that I did was on Depression. This assignment

was completed in school and competed in the month of April 2017.I was asked to

complete 2 slides of the powerpoint which was to research on ways to treat depression

in different methods for everyone who has this problem. I also researched for different

solutions to solve depression and ways to manage it.This IDP assignment fits in this

category because depression is a problem and it needs to be solved in the best way

possible. This may not be a statistical problem, but it is a global problem that affects the

majority of people.

My second interdisciplinary project that I did was on Lead Toxicity. This

assignment was completed at school and the IDP was completed in the month of April

2018.I was asked to create three slides in a powerpoint and I was also assigned to

create a website. In these three slides I had to do research on certain sub topics in our

main topics, which are results, data, and laws for lead toxicity. When this was complete

I then began to incorporate the main details of this information in our website for the

sections that I was assigned for. This IDP fits in this category because it is based on a

problem and we are the ones who come up with solutions to solve this problem. Also

because this IDP includes a lot of information about the problem and provides ways to

help solve it.

The SLO’s that I met were being a willing collaborator and effective

communicator. My first example to prove myself in being a willing collaborator is in the

website. The website was split into 2 members of the group, and one of those members

was me, and my part had its own specific task. In order to complete this assignment I

needed to work with my other team member to get it done, we had to work together and

think together and come up with good material to upload on the website. My first

example will prove that I was an effective communicator. I was an effective

communicator by having great communication with my teammates. In this IDP

communication was crucial and it needed to be consistent in order to successfully

accomplish this project. For my part of this project I had to make data charts and gather

results, so I needed to communicate with my group in order to gather the information

that I needed to make this happen. My third example will also prove my slo as an

effective communicator. I was an effective communicator by communicating with one of

my group members who was in charge of growing the plant. I needed to communicate

with that person so I can gain information about the plant like its height. My last example

is by taking the time to go over the powerpoint before the actual presentation and talk

about the key point to speak about throughout the time of the presentation.

In the IDP I definitely had a moment of growth when I presented to the panel for

both IDPs. I noticed that every time I presented I realize what areas I needed to

improve, which allowed me to get better at presenting. I also grew by now being able to

create websites in projects or whenever they are needed. My last area was in my

organization, when comparing the first IDP to the second IDP I notice that I grew
because I noticed that in the second IDP I was way more organized and well prepared

for the actual presentation itself. The area that I need to improve on is being more

elaborate when presenting. I feel that when I present I provide information but not

detailed information. I think that if I am able to present facts in a more detailed fashion,

the panel and other people will understand easier on what I am trying to say and

explain. I can use these IDP skills in the future when I present, share information, when

I communicate with people, and more. I know that in the future, these skills will come in

handy and these skills will just make my job much easier because I know what I need to

do or say and in what way I need to do it.
