Tech4Ed Launching

The Information Communications Technology Office of the Department of

Science and Technology (DOST), in partnership with the Local Government Unit
of Dimataling launched its first Tech4Ed Center Project in the municipality of
Dimataling last December 16, 2015.

Tech4Ed is a project of the DOST-ICT Office that aims to harness ICT to

diminish digital divide among Filipinos and alleviate poverty in both urban and
rural areas by providing access to government services through online platform
which contains various segments such as eEDUSKILLS, eASSIST, eGovServe,
mAGRI, mMARKETPLACE, eASSESS.

The eEduSkills aims to deliver e-learning on Alternative Learning System

(ALS), Learning English Application for Pinoys (LEAP), Skills Training and Values
and Character Formation. The eAssist aims to enable women, PWDs, OFs,
seniors, indigenous people, teachers and career shifters through access to
special contents while the eGovServe provides direct government services in
rural communities.

On the other hand, the mAgri enhances farm technologies for product
diversity which includes products from aquaculture, livestock, and agriculture
while the m-Marketplace aims to help people reach markets beyond their
exponential growth. Furthermore, the s-Assess provides industry assessment and
certification for the purpose of convenience and cost efficiency.

The local government unit of Dimataling provided the computer sets and
the office space complete with the required equipment such as electric fan &
air conditioning units, desks and chairs to make the Tech4Ed physical facilities.

Mayor Baya expressed his appreciation to DOST in making Dimataling as

one of its Tech4Ed center program in the province of Zamboanga del Sur. He
said that this would open up opportunities to fellow Dimatalingians. “They would
now be able to learn technical vocational education and training that can help
them in enhancing their skills and increasing their worth in the employment
sector using the technology,” added Mayor Baya.
 The Tech4Ed services target the marginalized sectors of our country- out of
school youth, persons with disabilities, senior citizens, indigenous people, and
women. The Tech4Ed project is being pursued to make technical-vocational
education and training accessible all over the country.

The said launching was attended by Vice Mayor Hon. Edmund Baya,
Sangguniang Bayan Members Hon. Rolly Duran and Hon. Florencio Bagundol,
WEM-RIC Dimataling Federated President Ma. Dolores A. Baya, Barangay
officials from every barangay, and all Department Heads of the LGU Dimataling.
