We Want an Ocean, Not a Pollution Commotion

All:

A very good morning we bid to

The honourable judges, loyal timekeeper

Ladies and gentlemen,

We, students of SK Pusat Juasseh

Will present our choral speaking

entitled

‘We Want an Ocean, Not a Pollution Commotion’

………………………………………………………………….

(Ocean wave)

(Bird chirping)

Individual:

Hey? Do you see that?

All:

What?

Individual:

Floating over there

All:

Where?

Individual:

Don’t you see there is something floating in the water?

All:

Nah, not a big deal

It is just a plastic bag

Who care~

All:

Stop being selfish!

See what is happening to our marine creature here

Individual:

Let me tell you a little story

………………………………………………………………….

All:

One day, a sea turtle, named Shelly was swimming in a deep blue sea,

Looking for the day’s meal for her kids.

All:

Aha! She saw a familiar white floating shape.

A jellyfish!

Yummy~

Shelly and kids swam swiftly and quietly,

not to startle their prey

A little closer. Just a little closer...

Almost there...Ngap!

They sank their teeth into the slimy flesh hungrily

Nom...Nom...Nom

Individual:

Eww, mom, why does it taste different from usual?

Individual:

Mom, why does this jellyfish do not move?

All:

Shelly wondered.

Individual:

Never mind kids, food is food, no?

………………………………………………………………….

Individual:

Mom! Look!

All:

Distance away, Shelly saw a few more slow-moving shapes.

Aha! More jellyfish!

Let’s go hunt,
Doo doo doo doo doo doo

Let’s go hunt,

Doo doo doo doo doo doo

Let’s go hunt!

All:

Ignoring the foreign texture and taste

Shelly and kids happily gobbled them down.

Individual:

Burp! Alhamdulillah.

I am so full now.

All:

But, then

Individual:

Argh!!!

All:

Why Shelly? Why?

Individual:

My stomach! It hurts so much!

All:

What is wrong?

Individual:

I don’t know. All I did was eating those jellyfish.

Help!

All:

Mommy!

Individual:

Help!

All:

(Sobbing)

………………………………………………………………….
Individual:

Wait! Do you hear that?

(Girls laughing)

All:

Are they monkeys?

No, they are not

Are they monsters?

No, they are not

Individual:

Haa, I know

All:

They are humans. Selfish humans!

Dey! Humans!

Stop throwing bottles into the ocean,

Stop dumping industrial wastes into the ocean,

Stop throwing plastic bags into the ocean,

Just stop, stop, stop!

All:

Rivers and oceans

And lakes all around,

Just search one of them

And trash can be found

All:

Trash in the ocean

Make turtles, fish, and birds get confused and then “GOLP,”

It is down the throat of an animal.

Individual:

*Coughing*

What is wrong with the jellyfish?

What is wrong with the tuna?

All:

It tastes different

It is choking us!

It is not a jellyfish, it is a plastic bag!

It is not a tuna, it is a plastic bottle!

Plastics!

………………………………………………………………….

All:

Plastics are the most common man-made objects sighted at sea.

This senseless dumping of rubbish in our beautiful oceans must STOP!

Think about where you put your rubbish,

Be a part of the solution, not the pollution

We do not inherit the oceans from our ancestors,

We borrow them from our grandchildren,

So,

Let us return the oceans in a state that is ready

For them to enjoy.

*Ocean wave*
