Forming the past perfect. The Past Perfect tense in English is composed of two parts: the past
tense of the verb to have (had) + the past participle of the main verb
Past Perfect Tense is a verb form that shows that an action was complete before another
action in the past.
For example: I lost so much weight because I had begun exercising.
Past Perfect Tense is a verb form that shows that an action happened before a specific
time in the past.
For example: I had already fallen asleep before ten o'clock.
Past Perfect Tense is used to show you a state that started in the past, and continued up to
some time in the past.
For example: I had had that house for eight years before the fire.
