2. Opportunity
2.1 Problem:
According to statistics from African Renewal Online magazine, youths make up to 60% of
Africa’s joblessness. The president of Coca-Cola, Central, East and West Africa, Kelvin Balogun
also said that almost half of the 10 million graduates churned out of the over 668 universities in
Africa do not get jobs. This is different from the set of graduates who belong to the category of
under-employed, drop-outs and those who didn’t go through the university.
Unemployment in Africa is highly caused by the defective educational system which does
not correspond to the economic realities prevailing outside the school system. Now that we have
over 400 million Africans who are unemployed, we had to mae our research and identified the
problems which are:
Higher number of people do not have access to the right education and skills which are
relevant to the labour market of this century.
A lot of youths and even adults do not know what to do in life after school despite the fact
that some spent years studying different courses.
A lot of them didn’t get to learn courses they had passion for and the curriculum didn’t
give them a precise direction leading to their profession.
Some do not have the financial capability to undergo a university education due to its cost
which seems to be the most secured way to get job despite the mess.
They do not have quality information and resources needed to equip them for the labour
market.
They do not have access to learn from professionals and experienced tutors who are active
on the field on different areas of learning.
The fact that the required skills and labour knowledge are not contained in the curriculum
due to the fact that it is not updated e.g the most needed skills in this century are not yet in
the curriculum.
Mass learning is not convenient as different people all over Africa would be more efficient
if they learnt at their own pace.
The summary of the basic cause of the problem of unemployment which is due to the defective
educational systems is the problem of WHAT TO LEARN THAT WOULD EQUIP THEM, WHO
TO LEARN FROM THAT WOULD DELIVER THE BEST QUALITY, WHERE TO LEARN
FROM, HOW TO LEARN, FINANCIAL CAPABLILITY TO LEARN and WHERE TO GET
THE JOBS BASED ON THEIR SKILLS.
2.2 Mission
Think n Act mission is to create an online platform that gives Africans the opportunity to
learn anything online that would educate them and equip them for the current African labour
market. This platform would involve instructors on any topic or knowledge in which students can
come online to learn from a wide range of courses they want.
The online platform would contain various skills and courses which would give students
the knowledge of relevant skills and not be confused about what to do in life.
It helps to them pick specialized courses in line with their fields or passion.
A lot of time would be saved as only the required courses would be learnt which is goal
focused.
Convenience to learn at their own pace and time which would solve the barrier of location
and other fees such as accommodation, transportation etc.
Access to quality courses from professionals or experts in the field and the choice to choose
any of choice.it gives opportunity to relate with the instructors and interact with other
students taking similar courses.
Would have the option of securing jobs through our job finder tactics.
Easy access to the information at any time as you would have it stored on cloud.
Benefits to Instructors
Access to teach a lot of students at the same time online thereby breaking the distance
barrier.
More profits as they would have access to more students since it is online.
It would push them to keep dishing out quality contents to have lots of students.
Teaching convenience as this their courses can be taught anyway depending on the type of
skills.
2.5 Competition
We have some competitors which do not really pose a big threat. Udemy, Skillshare, Cousera are
also online platforms where people come to learn skills but they have a very low penetration in
Africa owing to the fact that they are not within Africa.
Our major competitor is Udemy due to their fast rising brand popularity and the wide range of
courses. Yet there are still hundreds of courses that are peculiar and very relevant to Africa that
they do not teach.
3. Execution
3.1 Marketing & Sales
3.2 Pricing
Instructors would not be charged for uploading their courses to our platform.
However, for every sale made, we would get 25% per course sold. The price of the course may
vary from #3000 to #35,000.
The instructors would be charged extra at 2% for every click that comes through our advertising
and results in the purchase of a course.
We would also have a charge for every student who wants to get a job offer directly through us
from other job offering platforms based on their courses taken per time.
3.3 Operations
We would have members of the team based on the skills needed. The website building and mobile
app development would be outsourced to a software company and managed by the company for a
year.
We would require these skills at start.
Marketing
Branding
Social media management
Financial manager
Since our email service would be round the clock because we hope to be able respond to anyone
who has anything to address owing to the different learning duration.
4.2 Advisors
We would get advisors from a legal body and also from within the team.
The CEO has the duty to carry and source for the financial burden and has 15% of the company.
