Step 3 PRESENTATION/ PRACTICE/APPLICATION (Step-by-Step Procedures)

1. The teacher will introduce the topic and will start building the students’ background
knowledge by making connections.
2. Then, the vocabulary will be introduced through the use of a word wall with visuals.
3. Next, the book will be shown to the students and a book walk will be made to make
predictions/inferences of the book.
Guiding questions:
What can you infer from the picture?
What do you think is going to happen next?
1. Students will practice their oral language by sharing their predictions with their
shoulder partner.
2. The teacher will read aloud while asking guiding questions to facilitate full
comprehension and involvement from the student.
Guiding Question:
What characteristics do presidents need to have?
1. After this, students will use oral language to share their thoughts about the book and
what they would do if they would run for presidents. This guiding question would
help them build ideas:
What would you like a president to do for you?
1. Students will create at least seven sentences that show the things they would do as
presidents and they would do a three-dimensional flag.
2. Students will practice their oral language by imagining themselves standing on a
podium while showing their promises as presidents and by showing their flags.
3. As a class, we will review what was learned with the help of the following guiding
question:
What are the duties of a president?
Step 4 REVIEW/ASSESSMENT (ensure that assessment connects to objectives
mentioned above)

The tutor will use formative assessment by providing ongoing feedback as we discuss the
topic of the story to reassure their comprehension on the topic and the vocabulary. As the
students are reviewing what they learned, the tutor assures their comprehension in the topic
and checks for understanding. The tutor will use summative assessment by having the
students write ten responsibilities they would follow if they were presidents for a day and by
making a flag.
