Executive Summary

This report discusses the management of the Manufacturing Company by the name of

ALI & BROTHERS COMPANY. Our team interviewed the Technical Director at Ali &

Brothers Company and with the help ofhis provided valuable information regarding the

company; we have put together this report forour MANAGEMENT COURSE’S FINAL

REPORT PROJECT.

It indeed was a worthwhile experience throughout the interview, and we are grateful of

ourcourse facilitator to have given us this opportunity to have a look at the management

tactics inthe corporate world. The Technical Director at Ali & Brothers AHMEDD ALI,

was very cooperative andanswered all our questions quite up to the mark, due to which

Company Description:
Ali & Brothers Company was established in 1996 by Abbas Ali, chief executive officer

(CEO) of the company. Company takes pride of being the most industry among the

manufacturing industries in Motorbike field. Having vast variety of parts gives the edge

to the company. Company joined hands with one of the leading multinational company in

the world in motor bikes as well as in automobiles industry i.e. ATLAS HONDA

LIMITED Company is only work with ATLAS HONDA and excel its way to the top

MISSION:

To provide Quality product to its customer and excel its way among the best industries in

the world

Policies and Rules Regulations:

Ali brother’s forging has set up the guiding principles throughout the functioning of the

company.

 Ali brother’s forging supports health and safety by proactively communicating

with its people and implementing programs that address specific hazards forced in

the industry.

 Ali brother’s forging employees have a responsibility to identify and isolate any

hazards during tasks, be it in the office or out in operations.

 A progressive attitude which acknowledges that all workplace injuries or diseases

are preventable employees are encouraged to report an incident and any near

misses, where a near miss is defined as a situation which could have adverse

consequences if circumstances prevailed.

 Business Compliance & Ethics Guidelines: This is one of Ali

brother’s forging charters that emphasizes the company’s commitment towards

fair and ethical dealings, and expects all of Ali brother’s forging employees to

religiously follow this charter.

 Supplier Relation: Ali brother’s forging ensures fair dealing with suppliers

i.e. no exchange of favors are entertained, prices are in accordance with products

and services supplied, no unsafe products and services are supplied, government

laws and regulations are taken well into consideration.

 Information Sharing: Sharing of confidential information is strictly

forbidden. Ali brother’s forging may share information if it is relation to

improving a product or something that is to be communicated to the general

public.

 Entertainment and Gifts: Exchange of/receiving gifts, favors and entertainment

with the intention of bribery or improper influence is strictly prohibited. Employees may

however accept gifts which are not a part of bribery, influence, or against the laws and

policies of other parties’ company.

Types of Structure Design:


The organizations formal frame work by job tasks is divided in groups but is coordinated.

The basis on which jobs are groups in order to accomplish organizational goals is

functional departmentalization and process departmentalization.

 Form of departmentalization used:

The form of departmentalization used in Ali Brothers is functional departmentalization. In

whichjobs are grouped by the functions (i.e., marketing, finance, and human resources)

performed.

 Hiring, selection, training and compensation of employees:

Hiring and selection is based on merit basis. There are interview and group activities to

see whether they will fit in the organization or not.

For training and compensation they always make sure that everyone is on the same page

and the encourage all of their employees to learn new things, and provide them platform

as well.

 WORK SPECTIALIZATION:

Ali brother’s forging is a manufacturing company with a highly controlled structure.

In the manufacturing structure work specialization creates jobs that are simple routine

and standardized. The tasks are divided into different segments that are then

accomplished by employees with specific skill for the task.

 DEPARTMENTALIZATION:

The organizations formal frame work by job tasks is divided in groups but is

coordinated. The basis on which jobs are groups in order to accomplish

 CHAIN OF COMMAND:

It is the line of authority that extends from upper levels of an organization to the

lowest level of the organization and clarifies who report whom .Decision are taken

and goals are set by the top management and the manager than delegate the work to

there sub ordinates and guide them.

 SPAN OF COMMAND:

There is no specific span of control that is being followed by Ali brothers forging

rather it follow a very lean hierarchy. Each department’s span of control varies

according to its functioning. For example the operations manager supervises about

80-100 employees, the IT manager however has a team comprising of hardly 4-5

employees.

 CENTRALIZED:

Ali forging is a centralized company example decision-making is done by upper

levels of the organization. The upper level made the company’s key decision with

little input from the lower level employees.

 FORMALIZATION:

Ali forging is a highly formalized organization because rule and regulation strictly

followed by employees.

MOTIVATION
 How to motivate people(Incentives/Bonus/Benefits)

Effectively motivating employees has long been one of the management most important

andChallenging duties. An employee’s performance typically is influenced by

motivation, ability,and the work environment. In our company every year there is an

appraisal of increment to motivate employees.

Its employees by giving incentive, bonuses, monetary benefits, open door policy and then

otherBenefits of allowances are also provided to the employees.

Motivation is only effective if it boosts up an individual’s Morales. Every

employee’sRequirements or desires won’t be the same. Managers need to identify what

would satisfy whichemployee. For some it may be an increase in his salary, some may

want allowances for residence

Rent or medical facilities. For some it may be appreciation in public, while some may

only for respect. Managers identify employees’ needs and satisfy them accordingly.

Another impressing practice in ALI & BROTHERS COMPANY is its open door policy.

The management doesn’t have theircabins’ doors shut for employees. Rather they are

accessible at all times, if employees need todiscuss something. The CEO is usually found

having lunch with any random employee he getshis hands on. This portrayal of respect

and affection surely would boost anyone’s Morales. For outsiders, Company gives some

extra allowance for it such as (fuels, bike maintenance expenses etc.)

Motivation with Reference to Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs Theory:

There are many theories of motivation but according to our Company we Select Maslow’s

hierarchy of need theory. Maslow viewed motivation on the basis of a hierarchy of need because

the person cannot move to the next level of need without satisfying the previous level need his

hierarchy basically start at the lowest level of need.

1. Physiological needs: They provide all physiological needs to their employees to

Motivate them. Such as food, water, break timings, lunch timing etc.

2. Safety needs: They give safety needs to their employees by providing safe working

Condition, secure compensation and job security, which is especially important in the

Organization.

3. Social needs: They also give social need of their employees by providing friendly

Environment, good interaction among employees and managers.

4. Esteem needs: They give respect to their employees and get the respect from them.

5. Self-actualization: They provide challenging work, inviting employees to participate in

decision making and giving them flexibility and autonomy in their job.

The company understands that if these needs are not provided as per the expectation of

employees he may start getting dissatisfied with his job

Goal-Setting Theory

Setting goals that are accepted, specific, and challenging yet achievable will result in

higher performance than having no or easy goals.

In our organization in every project to set the goal is beneficial to achieved

Leadership styles

Autocratic and democratic:

Ali brothers forging company’s top level management mostly use the autocratic style of

leadership. They use this style to control and keep the organization out of any harm and

this also helps the employees who are rarely unfamiliar and unaware of the different

situations while before making the final decision. Autocratic leaders simply give orders

and employees are supposed to follow them. In addition they finely use the democratic

style and ask for suggestions wherever needed.

Contingency styles of leadership

Least preferred co-worker scale:

High Score: Ali brothers forging company uses this contingency style in order to

create a healthy and relationship oriented environment where employees can discuss their

comfort zone and problems they face in particular situation.

Low Score: As the employees of Ali brothers forging company meet their required

easiness they are meant to be more focused and task oriented or task motivated in order to

increase the productivity in the organization. This company consider task oriented style

more than relationship style because it helps them to deal with the favourable and

unfavourable situations.

attraction and interest that followers have for their leaders because when skilful leaders

give challenges followers are inspired to accomplish them.

Task Structure: Tasks of the company are conveyed profoundly and job

assignments are highly formalized and structured. Task structure is very

much important because it provides a clear and concise direction of

accomplishments to the company. For example creating fine discipline and

splendid environment reduces stress and frustration during work.

Position Power:

Leaders of the company Ali brothers forging have strong authority over the activities

such as hiring controlling, punishing and rewarding the workers. This type of power

leads the leaders to use the power effectively which benefits the origination in a set of

circumstances.

Five Sources of Leadership Power

Legitimate Power:Leaders have effective positional power to control and assign the

job duties to junior followers and followers report to the managers.

Coercive Power:Ali brothers forging leaders have authority to influence people by

their actions of threats, punishments, firing and transfer whosoever disrespect other

employees, working late, giving poor performance and avoid disciplinary rules and

regulations. Leaders have power to control the employees in the organization.

Reward power:Leaders have right to give rewards and benefits to the employees

according to their performance. These rewards may include salary increments, positive

appraisals and promotions. Leaders motivate their employees. Leaders do not demoralize

employees through favouritism.

Expert power: leaders of Ali brothers forging company have expertise in different

departments and expertise use their skills and knowledge depending which department

they oversee.

Referent power:Leaders of the organization have power over their followers by

cultivating respect, loyalty based on high identification with, admiration of, and respect

for their leaders

Conclusion:
A manager is a real leader. He influences others and has managerial authority. He plans

and executes the tasks well enough. He makes sure that he is satisfying both his

customers and employees. A successful manager is someone who manages his work

effectively and efficiently. Manager knows his job and is goal oriented. Ali brothers

forging is a manufacturing company with highly qualified employees managing different

departments. The company has achieved many awards regarding their best work and they

are trying to increase the property. Managers know their responsibilities and show

interest for the organization. The top level manager of Ali brothers gorging whom we

interviewed was very competent and cooperative. One of the quotes he shared with us

that is stated as; “Manager’s job is not being the smartest person in the room. It is to help

smartest people deliver the most impact”.

RECOMMENDATION
ALI & BROTHERS COMPANY knows its way to progress and prosperity pretty well. It

has its goals set straight and isworking well towards achieving them. All we can

recommend is to increase their storagecapacity as much as they can – as they have been

doing, and enhance the friendly environmentthat is a major characteristic of ALI &

BROTHERS COMPANY.

Giving employees an environment that isn’t just about Company’s benefits, rather, also

focuses onits employees being its most indispensable asset; will surely have an altogether

different effecton the employees. Working for a firm that is concerned about them,

motivates the employees tosuch an extent that they look forward to coming to work. They

would never hesitate beforeworking extra hours, putting in more than required efforts.

They are the most valuable asset ofthe firm. And a firm’s growth and development is

mainly about the efforts, sincerity and loyaltyof its workforce.
