MANILA, Philippines—A magnitude 4.

4 earthquake rocked Ilocos Norte at 3


a.m. on Friday, the Philippine Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The earthquake’s epicenter was traced 7 kilometers southwest of the
municipality of San Nicolas, and was of tectonic origin.
Philvolcs added that the quake, having a depth of 10 kilometers, was reported
at various intensities, as follows:
Intensity IV:
San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte
Intensity III:
Sarrat, Ilocos Norte
The quake also recorded instrumental — which was measured — intensities in
the following areas:
Intensity IV:
Sinait, Ilocos Sur
Intensity III:
Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte
Laoag City, Ilocos Norte
Intensity II:
Vigan, Ilocos Sur
No aftershocks and damages were expected, Phivolcs added. /muf
