Chapter Five

Summary and Conclusion

The life of each person is very essential it must be protected from harm. When a mother

bears a son she truly cares for it and when it is born she is very happy. The whole family are very

happy when a child is born in the family. We are much thankful to God for giving this precious

gift. It is a gift of God love to every one of us.

But now this precious life is not very importance to this modern world. They are giving a

lower perspective to a life of a person. It is because killings is happening now. Due to this

campaign on war on drugs the life of a person is always in danger especially those who are

pushers and users of drugs. It is chaos and dark time in this generation.

Our country is in a very high rate of shabu addiction it is the most significant problem we are

facing. In the past decades they battling the use and trade of drugs. It is growing more the trade

of drugs. Therefore it becomes many and even the rich people and some high rank government

officials are involved in this. It plaques our country.

The past administration cannot solved this problem of drugs. But in the time of president

Duterte in his administration it becomes his top on his agenda. Even before his campaign for

presidency he warned to stop those who are using and selling drugs otherwise he will kill them.

He is serious to what he said and it is proven for a past few months of his administration. News

of death, arrests, a narco list, vigilante killings and the police killings of drug users and pushers.

It becomes a dark time for the drug users and pushers.

The relatives of these users and dealers are so much affected that even the human rights are

reporting to this social issues that is happening. They cared to these killings of war on drugs.

Other people are supported to this government’s war on drugs even if it meant loss of lives. They

are supported for the welfare of the country and to stop this illegal drugs in the Philippines.

People are supported because without this war on drugs we will not know that many people are

involved in these. And they will stop their illegal acts.

But the problem on this is that the killings are become biased and those in the watch list that

have surrendered to the police are killed. It becomes bias because the poor are much affected on

these and they are the most targeted. Those who surrendered many are poor and they are the one

targeted. The killings that happened are with the police officers and gunned men. The gunned

men cannot be identified some killings are fighting between and within drug gangs. Other cases

are hired by the police to kill specific individuals and other police are disguising in killings.

The drug-related killings signify a blatant violation of international human rights law that is

legally binding on the Philippines. At their forefront is the non-derogable human right to life,

which extrajudicial executions violate. Other human rights, including the right to due process,

the right to health, prisoners’ right to humane treatment and the rights of victims’ family

members have also been violated. In reply of Philippine authorities, while requesting to

investigate such killings, have failed to prosecute those responsible. No member of the police has

faced criminal charges for a drug-related killing since Duterte took office.

Even if President Duterte said that it is for the safe and better of the country. It is unlawful

even in these word extrajudicial killing it is committed outside the legal system with no prior

judgment of a court. Committed without due process of law. In that it is unlawful his command.
Yes it is to protect the future but the people who died on this war on drugs they are part of this

future if they will not be executed.

As I use the philosophy of Karol Wojtyla it is unethical to kill a person. It is harming a

person’s life and dignity. We are created in the image and likeness of God therefore we must

give a high rank the life of each person. Our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. In that we

must take good care the life of each person. We are the foundation of our soul.

We are a Christian country, hence we are expected to condemn killings of people. We must

remember the law of God that we shall not kill. We must love our neighbor that’s why we have

to save the lives of people who are in addicted to drugs. We must give a chance to this drug user

and pushers to live. They can have a time to change their lives.

To let them know that in life we are not to end because of this addicted drugs. They can be

healed through our doctors. To go beyond what we are. That we have a special type of nature.

The essence that flows from our very nature speaks a lot of who he is and this nature is deeply

rooted in his dignity. And in order to recognize this, man needs to be placed higher than those

anything derived from them in this material and created visible world.

In solving the problem of illegal drugs here in the Philippines the extrajudicial killings is the

response to these. In order for the safety of his people and peaceful society. But it is only adding

a problem and making it worse. Because he is taking the lives of human person. What will be the

future that will happen? It will become normal the killings? In these we forgot that human life is

a gift of God’s love. We need to respect, love, serve, protect and save our lives.
will kill you, I will kill you. I will take
the law into my own hands… forget
about the laws of men, forget about the
laws of international law whatever.”
